this may be one of my fav devilicious portraits ever! it is 'dark', but not in an overt, heavy-handed way. it is tense [close angle], fleeting [slight, highly effective blur], and curious [what is she whispering to the flower? or what is it whispering to her?] ... all the mystique of feminine beauty [innocence, sexiness, melancholy, anticipation] all swirled together marvellously here. really really wonderful mary.
