there is a buffalo farm (yes, a buffalo farm
) down the street from my house the first time i saw them i was like 
they still MAKE those? 
they are like fluffy cows 
they recently had babies but they were too far away to get a good image of those. this will bore some of you - but honestly, when was the last time you saw any buffalo? have you EVER seen a buffalo? i hadn't
and this is a good photo 
i stuck the camera in the fence and got this clear image and one is sitting and facing me, you can even see his eye well amidst all that fluffy dark brown hair, and one is profiled perfectly. maybe i should send it in to Texas Wildlife Magazine 
anyway - for now - enjoy!

hehe, we have a buffalo and elk pasture in the middle of our town. But that's just Wyoming....

it's going to sound kind of dumb, but i was watching this show called 'into the west', on tnt, and it was fabulous (i've loved those go-west type stories since i was a kid), and there was this one scene where a herd of buffalo migrate past the wagon train, and it was such a cool scene i thought, 'wow. i would love to see buffalo.' so anyway that is how this pic came to catch my eye most especially. and they are beautiful. and how lucky you are to be able to see them so near home! beautiful.

All I have around me are the regular types of farms with the corn and sheep and horses and whatnot. You have to admit that they look pretty funny with their little afros.

we have them at our zoo and it makes me happy XD well, maybe their bison. i don't remember. but i love buffalo. i have the buffalo beanie baby XD i can't help it that i'm a geek.

I live in South Dakota, so i have seen many buffalo. There's a farm of them, much like this, about 3 miles from where i grew up. There's also a farm of them about 6 miles from where i live now. But the BEST place to see buffalo in South Dakota, is the Black Hills. I highly recommend to anyone to come to S.D. and visit Custer State Park. You can always see Mount Rushmore if you're there too

buffalo are neat, they're big as hell too. i've stood like ... a couple inches or something from some when i visited South Dakota. they're really quite amazing animals, and you really have to respect them. very nicely shot though, i like how this looks.
man i'd just love to sit around in the grass all day.

i went to yellowstone and grand teton national park last summer and there were herds of them all over. They crossed the road right infront of our car and went through this cluster of sulfer pool. I should post some of the pictures I took.

Well done, Mary! I love seeing all of the varied flowers and grasses in the meadow, in addition to the very sweet looking buffalo.
A few weeks ago a dozen buffalo escaped from a local buffalo farm (in Maryland of all places) and went running towards the beltway. They almost made it, but were corralled in a tennis court. The farmer took them home from there, with a little help from the police.
That's the last time I saw a buffalo.

i think the yellow flowers really are sweet contrast to their rich brown fur
they remind me of Ferdinand the Bull - the bull that would rather sit in the field smelling flowers than fight in bullfights? did you ever read that children's story?
they're so huge and supposedly can be aggressive - but these are domesticated and peaceful

Yeah, the escape thing was really funny & all of Baltimore joked about it for days. Everyone was very, very glad they didn't make it to the highway.

I see Bison all of the time. I keep an eye out for the meat when it happens to grace the meat section of the local market. Really good meat. Much leaner than beef and a richer taste.

It's a BUFFALO!! I saw a herd of buffalo when I was in Colorado ages ago. They're the cutest animals. Despite being ginormous, they look so cuddly.
