Not that it's a bad thing, it did better than Pokemon on the story department (seriously , the only watchable thing about Pokemon is Team rocket...)
I don't see much Myotismon in Kefka. You're thinking of Piedmon images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca8877…

Actually Myotismon does have a VERY similar haircut.

True, but the jester/clown motif is closer to Piedmon...

In terms of story and characters yeah, I know of it through parodies and friends who played them...

WHat are the others , my good fellow ?
The great thing about FF6 as a story to me is the contrast between Kefka and Terra. the more we go, the more he sinks into nihilism after becoming the God Of Magic (let's be honest; when you reach the top, there's no to go but down...). I know people praise him for "destroying" the world (he didn't , he just made it a hellhole, big difference !), but they miss the point; he ended up without a proper cause ! Terra on the other hand, once freed from the empire and despite PTSD, found love in the orphans she adopted (even if she did not get it at first XD) and a purpose to fight for . I wish it was adapted in animation....

3. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (xbox/pc/ipad) The only Star Wars game I can recommend to anyone who hasn't watched any movie (including the original trilogy) or cares about anything from the franchise
2. Chrono Trigger (snes, ds) Featuring a very cohesive time traveling adventure as well as some optional quest that can be rewarding, one hell of a great soundtrack, combined attacks, and at least 15 different endings. and is not very long actually
1. Tales of Symphonia (gamecube). It begins as a simple story featuring a chosen one (which isn't the main character) but later evolves into a different scale as while the person will save your world, another one will be destroyed, there are some maquinations behind the prophecy, as well as some grey areas from the villains as some are not evil for the sake of it, and also intolerance, etc. but there is also comedic moments. The combat system is good and surprisingly complex playable characters. Though I haven't played this in a while.
Though for lower places there have been some recent changes and probably will be this year in my top 4
Agree, by the way, do you consider Terra the main character? many (including the creators) don't consider this game to have a central character
Another thing I liked about Kefka: Most videogame villains are the lord/mistress of all evil that is manipulating everything and appears only at the end. But this guy starts as a general from another villain following his orders and seen in many places, and as the story progress he gets more screentime than any of the imperials. The fight in the floating island in any other rpg would be the last one, but here is when he finally gets all the powers and begins the second half of the game.

That is a good question. Terra is to me the main character in the same way Jean and Scott were in the Lobdell/Nicieza run; see , she drives a lot of plotlines even if some events concern others Celes and the Figaro brothers. What i disagree with is the whole making her optional during the Age Of Kefka... that is pure bullshit, she easily has the most personal reasons to want to take the fucker down. Hell, you even find her as the mother figure of orphaned children , that alone should have made her essential to the final fight... so yeah, I disagree with the creators (it has been rumored that Locke was the main, which is just a total WTF statement XD). While FF6 is ripe for adaptation there are 2 points to consider
+ Keep the intended ending where Terra dies after Kefka is defeated ?
+ Which characters to NOT adapt... because seriously the damn roster is loaded !
About Kefka, i hope a future adaptation depicts him as more charming and convincing a general... you know that slimy bastard who CAN trick people into trusting him ? That's a side that should be added because without that, Ghestal would be just an idiot and Kefka just lucked the fuck out to become a god !

Yeah, the main reason I considered the most important is that in the ruined world when you recruit the other characters it goes like "okay, we will kill Kefka" or "okay, but I need help to solve one personal quest" while Terra is the one who has the longest...side quest in order to recruit her and even the song of the town changes when she joins.
And of course, when you get to the tower, the characters wonder how will this affect her even she isn't in the team. I can understand the statements that there isn't really a main character, but these details, aside from her connection with the espers and she using the magicites at the end made me consider her the real heroine of the game.
Only a series from 3 seasons might properly adapt the game
I want to believe that Kefka getting very lucky to become a god was also intentional as it was an entirely different villain from many rpgs. Though yeah, General Leo must be the biggest idiot ever in order to fall for that trick. It annoyed me when Cyan told him "is not your fault" when clearly it was 100% his.

There are also elements to add in order to flesh out the character. Like giving Kefka something of a mad scientist vibe, you know. Plus at the beginning he was more of a bully than a nihilist... and make Kefka a bit more prevalent in the second phase rather than stick him on top of the hill. Like create a sense of emergency...

Hopefully in a remake
I don't know how much you are into videogames, but these tend to be pretty good in this media
