Ladies and gents, the JoJo Part that David Prod CLEARLY was saving its cash and talent for ! Which is no surprise considering how popular Part 5 is in Japan.

When I first read Vento Aureo, it felt somewhat like a TMNT story due to the dynamics of Bruno's gang... and yes, GioGio was the Donatello of the group despite doing schemes rather than machines ! Sure GioGio is often said to be a mix between his dad and his uncle/body dad. To which I say, YES but there is a twist ! Giorno does have an ambition and an ideal as far-reaching as Dio's and can be as ruthless. Giorno DOES have Jonathan's traits even more when it comes to self-sacrifice and sense of justice (at no point in the story did he ever try to throw any of Bruno's gang under the bus for his own gains... also I have NO IDEA why people compare Giorno to Griffith ! At no point did I find GioGio comparable to that traitorous raping sack of shit !).
UNLIKE his dads however, he has a standoffish and calm disposition even when surprised while JoJo and Dio tended to burst with emotion or hardly controlled theirs.
I dug, hell, still dig Part 5 even despite the rushed ending (the race to the arrow was glorious though ! Diavolo, even with the shitty translation, was damn hilarious in his raging paranoia...) AND the utterly useless and ham-fisted Sleeping Stones epilogue (I'd rather have Polnareff tell the band about what happened waaay back in egypt and the second to last page would be GioGio burning that Dio photo...). I feel most of the weaknesses of the Stands section in JoJo come from Araki's lack of world-building. He's pretty good at characters, inventive fights and pathos (well for the OG JoJos that is...) however, world-building ain't his forte...

Much as I love regular Giorno, his tree-growing copyright free version took my appreciation to another level and even made GER much better (seriously THAT thing was so fucking half-baked that it was clear Araki rushed through the end !) www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MtOpB… ! XD
