Description

A new take on an old-old piece I did a while back. Sun is rising on a dusty some dusty off-world colony, as the planetary defense guns lie dormant.

Quick one before Im off to bed. Around 30 mins in Photoshop, 10 minutes for main study, and the rest I have spend fiddling with sunrise and the figures up front. I've quit before I'd mess it

A couple of minutes and first thing that I painted that I actually like in months.

Thanks for watching!! C&C always wholeheartedly welcome

I really enjoy the colors in this picture!  I also love how this is a re-work of your old version and we can see how much you've improved.

Thanks! It really shows, doesnt it? I had this idea to rework the old artwork, along with few others. The point is, I am really shocked to realize how poor the old works were, compared to how I have remembered them. Back when I painted them, I clearly remember how proud I was of the effect achieved, and had no problem to show them off in my gallery. Now, even when I produce much better works in technical terms, they more often than not go to some dump catalogue, because I consider them unworthy of display. The more skill you have, the more flaws you can see in your own creations... uch I think I went too far with this essay

Take a look: I've painted this like 3 years ago: devjohnson.deviantart.com/art/…

I remembered it today and decided to do a quick sketch of how i'd tackle it nowadays.. after years of work I see that everything people say that it takes practice to learn is true... I could be better now if I worked harder. Its just like every painting you do is another step. So just go and progress

that is still quite good

I will keep on practicing! since i got the job as an illustrator for a company i think I've gotten a bit better with colors at least hehe.

but thank you, i got some inspiration now! Now all i have to do is finish my work at the company so i can draw what i want.

If you have time and the energy you can give me some feedback on my art if you like.

Its good to work for a company, I've got most of my experience from working for companies, the responsibility keeps you on working
