Derek, I just colored this piece for a sample. It's gorgeous. I hope that you don't mind!

So, maybe you've mentioned this before and I'm just an idiot, but what do you use to ink? Brushes, pens, something else? It doesn't look digital...

I'm just curious.

I'm pretty much old school (and I yell at the young punks to get off the lawn). It's all traditional...pencil, pen, nib, brushpen, india ink, and scanned.

That's really cool. I'm trying to learn brush inking, but my lines are so terrible and shakey. I generally use the Faber Castell Pitt pens, but I want to be able to ink decently with a brush.

Thanks. I think the longer a team works together, the more comfortable it starts to get. There's opportunities to help out on other things here and there just to shake things up. But I've always prefered to just get into a nice rhythm on a long run.

I just love Dustin's art. They are so expressive but they aren't cartoony.
Also it's easy to see you're a pretty good inker, with that steady and shape line. Great piece

Thanks. I definitely think Dustin really utilizes a lot of black shadow on the page. That's what I always think of for Batman, and he makes it work well.

Me too. I think that the shard-shading Dustin does matches Batman like a glove. You guys are one of my favorite Batman's creative team, art-wise. Continue the amazing work
