Great photo. The duck in the back actually looks like an American Black duck to me, not a mallard.

It could very well be a female black duck. Or a cross between a mallard and a
black duck.

And a little like skiing in power snow

I've seen movies of them skidding across the ice, but without being stills, I'd never noticed how they held their feet. So thanks for posting such a sharp photo!
