Thanks.. I love the challenge of hawks. I certainly miss a lot more
shots and opportunities for shots cause they just, fly off,

o_o Wow that's a fast shutter speed, and it got all that light? Nice job.. I've lived in Minnesota all my life but I can't remember ever seeing a red shouldered hawk.

Notice iso 400.. on the 40D its virtually the same as 200,
and only slightly worse than 100. but I like fast shutter
speeds, cause I shoot hand held, or out of a car alot.

Thanks.. Kneeling in the snow, elbow on my knee to steady, and a fast
shutter speed.

You're welcome Don..
I had my lecture show last night, everything went great, a friend of mine shot a pic of me during it ( posted).. sold a couple of prints and was asked to come back in the fall for another show and talk.

Is it just me or is it the same tree in every shot?

Its just you.. This is 40 miles from most of my other hawk sightings.

Tim, I had to walk 30 yds in at least knee deep snow to get to
the sun side of this guy. Used the ole grazing technique, where I
seldom looked at him, and was watching the ground and not moving
in a straight line. Only got off two shots, when he decided I was
paying too much attention to him and off he went.

He's gorgeous. And relaxed and sitting on the one foot, with the other hidden. Beautiful and very natural shot.
