Marvel asked me to produce 5 covers featuring Marvel superheroes in the TRON universe to be used as variant covers on various Marvel comics to cross promote the new movie TRON:Legacy. The fours cover up features Ms.Marvel fighting a bunch of Recognizers. Done in ink, Copic markers, white acrylic, and colored in photoshop. Check my gallery for covers of Captain America, Spider-man, and Moon Knight.Great comments so far on the covers, really appreciate them all!

I like the "texture" of the shading more in the B/W, but the costume and character are tons more vibrant in the colored version. Thanks for sharing these.

Love the work, and honestly, she doesn't look have bad in that outfit. Almost like what she would wear in the future if she traveled in time.

I'm digging this one, too. Great work, and I like how you went with a full-body suit for Ms. Marvel. As much as I like the latex onesie and thigh-high boots she normally wears, this suit works a lot better for practical reasons. And it doesn't hurt that it glows.

Excellent work! I too am not really digging the metal mesh "crotch guard" but a very nice tron interpretation.
BTW, any chance you could post a widescreen friendly version, would love to have this as wallpaper!

While I prefer the classic Ms. Marvel look; I think she looks better with the Tron piping. That thing on her chest is supposed to be a lightning bolt, now it really looks like one. It would be cool to see her standing in partial shadow to see full glow.

Excellent. Just out of curiosity. Everyone seems to have different techniques for doing glow effects in Photoshop. Which one works best for you, if you're willing to reveal it?

Overall very cool costume, Mark.
But I'm not so sure about the padded crotch guard. What was the thought behind this? Is she in danger to fall on it or does she get hit there very often? It's not a very exposed area, like the knees or shoulders for instance. It's such an obvious design piece that it leads the eye to it and the triangular shape with the dotted surface doesn't help to not associate it with what's guarded by it. It's rather distracting and not in a good way.

I really appreciate you opinion and critique and won't fault yo for it because, after all, art is subjective and you can't please all the people all the time. That being said, just because you have an opinion doesn't make you opinion the only one or make it fact so suggesting that my editor(and in relation, me) were relaxed that day is a pretty rude thing to say. It's as if you have assumed your opinion to be a fact and not merely your take on things. I liked the design. My editor liked the design. Disney liked the design. You don't like it? Very cool man and I would never fault you for your opinion but saying that someone else is lazy or wrong for liking it is just downright rude. I really do appreciate you comment as I do everyone's comments, even those that critique because that's how we ultimately get better, but don't ever degrade someone else's opinion just because it doesn't jive with your own. My editors and me are anything but lazy and all the turnarounds, layouts, designs, and phone calls that went into these covers are testament to that. If you want to hate it then hate it but respect that work that went into it and realize that, while we should have opinions, they are just that and don't necessarily mean they are the only right way to see things.

Wow Mark, wait a minute. Thank's for appreciating my opinion, kind of, but there is no reason to over-analyse what I wrote. I did not suggest that you did not put a lot of hard work into that piece or that your editor was being lazy but I see that I was not clear about that. I do not hate the picture, quite the opposite. I was merely wondering why you gave her a pelvic protector and that your editor ok'ed a design that I thought might raise some parents' eyebrows. If an inquisitive critique gets you so riled up I will refrain from that in the future.

Like I said man, I don't mind an inquisitive critique and appreciate your opinion, it was just the last line that got me riled. I used the design for her pelvic region cuz I liked it, plain and simple. My editor and Disney seemed to like it too and none of us think it will raise any parents eyebrows. Look, I'm sorry I went off on you a little bit, I probably shouldn't have but you have to admit, regardless of your intentions, that your last sentence suggests that I made a mistake and my editor was lazy or relaxed in catching it all simply because you don't like a particular design choice. Please continue to critique in the future but always remind yourself, as I do to myself, that a critique is not for the benefit of the person critiquing but for the person being critiqued and you want them to be receptive to your words. When you say things that make people put a defense up it's pointless and all your doing is critiquing to hear yourself talk. Thanks for liking the piece overall and again, I apologize for going off on you. Hope we have an understanding and can move on.

yeah I totally agree with that. Made the same comment when I saw that on the facebook Marvel page. One other (male) Tronified character has it as well. It does really lead the eyes to it. I guess if she played baseball or cricket i'd be quite useful
But other than that, nice design.
