Description
This is cover to Marvel's new comic X-Men #1 featuring all the X-Ladies - Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Rachel Grey and Jubilee!The book ships in April 2013.
Rachel Dodson's inks were done over my pencils - she used a Windsor Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brush #2.
Here are the final colors for this done in Photoshop CS3 using my trusty 11 year old Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet!
Really had a good time coloring this one!

i dont know how i feel with storm having a mowhawk...kinda different...looks cool here, just not sure tat was a suitable choice for her...

Well, I think I've now drawn it in almost all the styles but the mohawk is the most fun to draw design-wise!

I love the pic, they all look like beautiful badbutts, buuuuuuuut...why does everyone mess with Storm's hair? A black woman can't have long pretty hair? My goodness, lol. I swear, I can count how often she's illustrated with her long hair in comics. She's like the only female character who's gone through all these weird hair changes. She's still beautiful though, always will be, and the design for the costume is fantastic.

This makes no sense. People changing her hair doesn't mean that she can't have nice pretty hair. It shows that she's versatile, if anything, and isn't attached to the long hair. It shows that she can look kick-ass anyway she fixes herself. When you say BUT, that means you're intending to contradict yourself, which then makes your statement and point messy.
Who cares how many times she changes her hair? She looks dope every time she does it. And for someone as tough as her, the changes in hair makes a lot of sense.

Really? I'm making both points because I'm human and I don't think in black and white. I have the ability to be open-minded as well. While I don't like how I have to see Storm, a beautiful African woman get her hair cropped, chopped and skewed by artists again and again, I love how she was depicted by Terry and I think she looks amazing on the cover (the cover itself looks amazing); I'm not too hidebound in my views to see that. He makes her look GREAT despite the mohawk rocker thing she has going on. She looks cool.
As a black woman myself, and seeing as Storm is the most known black female character in comics, I still would like to see her presented as the regal, graceful woman she was created as, and I grew up knowing her to be. As a child, she was the heroine who looked like me (brown skin, all of my heroines and princesses were white as that was the world back then) and I adored her, and I'm simply very sensitive as to how she's treated.
