As a child, Diamond went through a lot of discrimination and emotional torment because she was a neko, a freak, a hybrid, a monster.
She only really became friends with one person, Hero, younger and significantly weaker younger brother to Steve, who was considered a living idol in the village.
Steve had all the qualities of his parents, strong, smart, naturally tan and, apparently, gorgeous.
Diamond rolled her eyes at everything everyone said about how 'perfect' Steve was, she knew he was a spoiled brat who thought so much of himself and took any chance possible to make his brother's life living Hell.

Diamond lost her mother, a fellow neko, at a young age due to her mother been a neko and her father took her and ran to hide her from the people. Diamond's father worked in the mines for hours on end to make a living, often working long into the night.
