This looks like the house at 1329 Carrol Avenue, aka the Charmed Manor. Though, this painting is reversed from the real house, with the side porch on the opposite side. You did a great job and the colors look fantastic.

thank-you. i love that house. I even visit it from time to time.
I think it's known as "Innes House." And I think it's because it belonged to a man named Innes that worked in the L.A. city government back it the late 1800s.

The colors are unbelievably bright for water color, this picture gives me such a homely feeling ^^

Something about this one is particularly compelling. I dunno, the color, the structure itself, richness, depth.
Pretty easy on the eyes-

eh!...it's on my wall. You should see it framed...much better.
But thank-you anyway. This is a perspective corrected earlier post btw.

I think this is so cool how you have a passion for houses. I love old farmhouses, the older the better, and New England has some gems.

thanks. I LOVE quaint old places.
It would be nice to tour around the country just doing homes.
What I discovered about them, is that the proportions of the windows for instance, have a very different ratio to the walls, then do modern structures. Same goes for the doors.
I discovered this by trying to design my own "fake" old houses.
It all boiled down to off-beat measurements.
Even with old picture frames...there were no REAL standard sizes...no 9X12, no 12X16 no 16X20...they were all different, like 10 2/3 X 17 1/8, etc...kinda like that.
thats the best I can describe it.

interesting,I had no idea, except that in the old houses here you get a lot of slap-dash stuff, rooms and doors and windows added or removed on an as-needed basis. Are you familiar with coffin doors?

Not yet.
Why, what's the deal with those?

The old houses here and probably other places had extra wide front or parlor doors, to accommodate a coffin being passed through, what with the in-home wakes and viewings.

Interesting.
I suppose having to tilt a coffin side-ways to get it in the door would be a bit problematic....wouldn't want grandpa to fall out while being brought into the house.
