It would be the perfect design for a reverse gps geocaching box. My idea would be that this mysterious box holds a key inside. And the box would only open up when the box is at certain gps coordinates. I intend those coordinates to have a treasure chest placed to when u get the key you figure out it's for the chest.
Your steampunk box design is just about perfect for the idea.
