This is one of the best you made so far.
Your designs are only getting better, havent you considered to start making other book bindings instead of only customizing stabbed covers?
I mean, other binding styles. Its pretty cool to mix the binding techniques with the decoration.
This raw cord you use, not always adds value to your beautiful steampunk designs.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Diarment In reply to ynguer [2010-10-01 08:01:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I am looking for other types of binding, but apart from decorative must be easy to perform, I've seen your gallery, and have seen very good ideas, Can you recommend some type of binding?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ynguer In reply to Diarment [2010-10-01 17:19:40 +0000 UTC]

I suppose I do like to try techniques, I'll have to start learning how to decorate more. ^^

Now about a suggestion... I dont know, that is sort of personal taste I guess. I tend to like those sort of binding that leaves evidence of the work, with the sewing and cords apparent. But I see many people here doing beautiful thing on the basic "codex" style, those hard cover notebooks, and that's mainly decorative work as well.(not wanting to take the credit of the binding ^^)
Since you make so many steampunk designs and the codex was the main style used in this setting, that would be a nice start. (there are variations, "milimeter binding" a bit more complex for example)
But no need to restrict to that. I think it's all about adapting to materials and techniques to start creating on that.
Take a look on the 3 or 4 groups focused on binding, you'll find many interesting things.
You have no hard time finding many tutorials for each time on google.
And if you need feel free to ask.
I'm really looking forward to see the books you'll make. ^^

When you say cardboard, is that the same as grunge board or chip board?
