The girl archetypes seem more familiar then the guy ones. There are some obvious connected tho. like Crazy guy and the Joker from batman. Personally I think that for designing a female character's personality no one writes a better female character then Hayao Miyazaki.
Rant time! Alot of feale characters in anime, cartoons, movies, video games, comics, and anything else are really poorly written. In modern media its "Tits of GTFO" and their personalities are either Helpless Dunce or Queen Bitch.
anyways, good to see you regularily updating your work again ^_^

It's tough to write a good female character because we're too easy to type-cast as a support (even in life, its what we do almost). A strong female does seem to sell, people turn into fans, but harder to develop because of the impression we already have of them (soft, kind, driven, helpful, etc.). I agree for the most part, I find a woman with depth is a quality that trumps even some of the best male heroes.

yeah definately, although I think that male characters are type cast as the heroes so we just get the same kind of writing for every male character.
because they tend to be the hero compared to the female character being annoying and what not we tend to see Male characters as being written better.
Hopefully i didn't discourage you. and hopefully you will do some story writing in the future and share it with us on DA ^_^
