Description
I'm sure this will please a number of old school Gran Turismo fans. For the next two rounds we are reviving some classic Gran Turismo endurance races that were mainstays in the series until GT5! For round three this weekend, we are at a reimagined Grand Valley on the California coastline town of Big Sur. I am aware that many fans were skeptical about GT7's Grand Valley since it doesn't have the same charm the original version from Gran Turismo 1-6 did, but I must say that I love the beautiful California coastline scenery, especially with the coastal wildlife that comes with it, namely the birds, otters and the colony of northern elephant seals. I hope they don't mind the noise of GT3 race cars ...
There aren't that many stands here, but fans and local campers can gather in big numbers to watch this Gran Turismo endurance revival, and accommodations for both fans and the race teams/drivers are fantastic with plenty of hotels and restaurants surrounding the paddock. For those who fail to make it into the Sunday show, there will be plenty of things to do while watching the 300-kilometer race unfold.
Nissan driver Miles "Tails" Prower comes into this race with a 42-point lead in the Drivers' Championship, but he is on 60 kgs of success ballast "Stage 2," meaning 95% engine power. After getting consecutive points finishes, including a win at Blue Moon Bay Speedway last weekend, he is set to be shuffled to the back for a while and make way for more drivers to have a chance at taking the spotlight. It's the price you must pay for doing well in a B.o.P. championship that tries to keep EVERYONE on equal footing. So ... sorry, Tails fans, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait a while before we see him contend for another win. Granted, he'll stay on the top end of the championship table for a while, having made his early season mark.
I am the only ballast-free Nissan this weekend, and I'm bringing my Petrie livery into the fold. As I said last month, I'll be using my Petrie livery in all the California races, since I always seem to associate The Land Before Time with California for some reason. I currently sit 12th in the championship on 29 points (121 behind Tails), and this will be a great opportunity for me to close the gap and become a championship contender.
