I'm gonna be honest here, as an artist, backgrounds are my weakest point. This is possibly the biggest, most detailed BG I have ever drawn (too bad the scanner was crappy). It was my final progect in Animation Design class. I don't think that I'll ever take the time to color it because, as Edna Mode would say "I never look back Darling, it distracts from the now."Related content

Its so engrossing, I feel like my face is pressed against the stone floor next to that guard's foot. You should do more like this, or try to incorporate more backgrounds into your work

Thank you. I really should be doing more background stuff. But drawing backgrounds are so difficult, long, and boooooorrrring. I was pretty much forced to make this one for a design class and it took me about a month to do.

we have the same problem. layouts...loved the course in college, but was my worst marks. i hate it when that happens. anyways, my backgrounds never looked as good as this one. awesome dutch tilt! like the compo, it looks cool.

my problem with layouts is when you're using 2 or 3 point perspective. How am I supposed to work with a perspective point that's 4 feet away from my desk?

If this is your weak point then your strong point must be damn amazing!
This is near perfect without colors, and I would leave it black and white like this. To bad the scanner did mess up some of the shading, but even with that it looks amazing.

for backgrounds being your week point (I stink at backgrounds) this is VERY well done 0___0
I love the shading/lighting and style of this piece. and the picture makes me wonder if there is a story behind this

Pity you're not going to color it. I'd love to see what colors and shades you would use. There are so many possibilities! Anyway, having said that, I like the perspective, and the detail. I have problems with my scanner too, so I know how you feel in that department, but it still looks very nice. Let me know if/when you change your mind about coloring. Though it does look complete without said coloring... hmmm.
