‘Mightiest and Fairest of all F-Elves – Illustrating Tolkiens Silmarillion’Once more…
I struggled hard with the trees. They had to be extraordinary and divine, with big, visible flowers, but still, well … treelike.
My chief source of inspiration came one spring in the form of a tree of ‘golden rain’ (Laburnum anagyroides) which laid the ground for the fundamental tree…shape (the must be another picture somewhere …). The rest just fell into place.
