Description (Bold text indicates reader. Normal text indicates Sugawara.)

To my sweet lady, (Y/N) de Medici,

Too long have you been gone from France. I sit in councils all day and hear petitions and rule my country—and yet my mind wanders to you in your window in Florence, reading or playing chess with your brother. I wish we could have never parted. When my work is done for the day, I often take rides around sunset. The saddle you had made for me is getting plenty of use! I am also practicing fencing daily, so that I am not bested by your brother again. How humiliating—the new king of France defeated by the imp that is your brother! I have also sent another book along with this letter. It is a collection of various French poetry—you mentioned you wanted something new to translate. Though, I must admit, your French was most excellent at the coronation. Oh, my sweet lady, write to me soon and relieve my great longing for your company. I dream often of my coronation night (sometimes pleasant, sometimes horrific), and you always seem to make an appearance in that tantalizing red gown.

In your good graces,
Koushi II

To the most gracious and wondrous King, Koushi II,

You cannot know how much I share your thoughts and affections. I do wish you could visit me in Florence; this is a selfish wish. I realize that you are the king now, with a great deal of responsibilities and cannot simply leave your duties because of my loneliness. Ah well, my brother shall have to keep me company. Our current chess score is 17-10. His skill is greatly improving—but I shall always be the smarter one! The book you sent is quite lovely. I have enjoyed translating it so far and am savoring every poem. I do so love poetry (but you knew that, of course, or you would not have sent me that wonderful little thing). My father has increased my daily studies. He refuses to explain why, but I have a feeling it is preparation for something, I know not. Everything seems to be centered around bureaucracy and international relations! I enjoy the latter very much but not so much the former. One more thing, sweet king, before I must return to my books. You ought to write to my brother and ask him about the noble woman he has been pursuing. He refuses to tell me anything, and I am dying to know! I would be forever in your debt.

Humbly yours,
(Y/N) de Medici

To Her Heavenly Grace, (Y/N) de Medici,

If I might be permitted to speak candidly, I believe you are the smartest woman alive—it comes as no surprise to me that you best your brother in chess. He does tend to rush headlong into things without thinking ahead. I have done as you asked and sent a letter to him inquiring about his health and other matters. I hope his reply does not disappoint, even though I am breaking my brotherhood with him by spying on him for you! I only jest. I would break a hundred bonds with a hundred friends to win your favor. Your studies sound interesting; they are much like what I endured for the past few years. Now you shall share my pain! Which countries' relations are you studying? Maybe for a practical application you can visit me in France and haggle about leather prices or some other trivial matter. What a pleasant thought that is. Well, sweet lady, the day draws to a close and I must retire for the evening. I pray you will write to me soon.

With all my prayers,
Koushi II
