Description This is my final year project for University, for my degree in Character Creation and Technical Effects.

The character is an anthropomorphic oryx shaman.
The mask was first sculpted, before being moulded with a silicone and fibreglass jacket, and slush cast in fast cast resin mixed with fillite.
The construction of the mask was inspired by *Qarrezel , as it is similar to the way she makes her (beautiful!) masks.

The fur was airbrushed with Com-Art airbrush paints.

The horns are lightweight resin, and are very strong and durable. They are painted with acrylic paint.

The hands are cast in resin, and are hollow to allow me to articulate my fingers inside them.

The costume is custom dyed to match the feature fabric I initially bought. The corset is real leather.

The photograph was taken by *KittehChan

I really love the look and feeling of this costume. It looks both fantasy and realistic, both african and historical (viking in my mind). What technique did you use for the head? Does the jaw move? And how did you color the fur?

I used a lot of african influences in my design, as I felt it suited the origin of the animal!
I wanted to create a design that was fantasy, but still believable, as if it had a history to it.

The head has a resin underskull, jointed so the jaw moves. The fur was airbrushed using Com-Art airbrush paints.

I will, when I have some spare time, put up some progress photos of the making of this costume in my scrapbook, to give a better idea of the process!

Unfortunately, the jaw doesn't move as much as it could, as I made a mistake when furring around the mouth, but I know exactly how to rectify that in the future (by not putting the fur so tightly around the mouth)

Thank you for your comments

Thank you, yes, the african feeling mixed with the fantasy diesign fits perfectly to the anthelope <3

And I know the problem with the moving jaws - even when you leave a fold for the mouth to open properly, it softens the movements extremely - I had a lot of trouble with my last mask making the jaw working after the furring -_-

Looking foreward for the making-of-pics
