Pyrrha Nikos from RWBY."Pyrrha" is derived from the Greek adjective pyrrhos (πυρρός), which means "flame-colored." Nikos (Νίκος), meaning "victor of the people," is derived from Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory.
Her first and last name together could be seen as a reference to a Pyrrhic victory, a tactical victory that comes at such extreme cost it is often seen as a strategic defeat.
Monty said that Pyrrha is named after her hair.
Had to make a fan art for this character. Love her fighting style, and it was nice being able to watch a sequence of it during Season 2's opening each time.
Got the idea for the background from things like Gladiator (2000). I felt her Spartan colors plus the arena she fights in fit well with with concept, even though Spartans and gladiators are from different time periods. Perhaps she should have an ability that showers her with rose petals after every killing blow?

I first saw this piece about a year ago and I loved it, with what happened to her lately I felt I'd look for it again. My favorite RWBY character man, and a truly awesome depiction of her. Nice work man. You've done a fine job capturing the essence of the character and it even makes me miss her more, lol. And once again, you like some cool stuff Digiflow.

This is not only one of my favourite pieces of Pyrrha art, but one of my favourite RWBY pieces as well. You really captured her completely. Dynamic pose, great foreshortening, absolutely gorgeous work! Love it!
