Description Finally, I made a terraspace piece, it felt like I hadn't made one in ages. This time I decided to step up my skills artwise. This one took me awhile to make since I had envisioned what I wanted it to look like before I started to work on it. I didn't have time to make a lot of artwork because i've been busy with other things lately. Anyways, I'm happy with the way this turned out. Hopefully i'll be getting back into the groove of art. Initial resolution is very big so there will be a print version.

Enjoy.

Wow may be the only thing that can explain this piece of beautiful art work. The terragen is so realistic and nebulae is truly breathtaking. Great job.

The mixture of colors you've got here is amazing

Something funky's going on in the foreground (post-work texturing?) that I think is pretty unecessary and distracts from the piece. But hey, that's one negative swimming in a sea of overall "awesomeness" if you will. Great job man

I don't know a lot about this type of art, but I really like the part where the atmosphere effect of the landscape fades up and into the skyscape above, and the planet there being so close. There's something about that that is just humbling, maybe, makes you feel small in a grand scheme of huge happenings and other worlds.
I realize that has nothing to do with the technical art of it, I guess, but I just love that effect. I had to keep looking from land to sky to keep the feeling going, and I think that's cool. Thanks for that!

The stars near the explosion look blocky, and most of the space looks flat. I can't pin down the cause of the depth issues, but it lacks that "grandiose" scale I've seen on other artworks of yours. The top of the planet looks quite "texture and spherize," whilst there's too much contrast and not enough definition on the explosion and upper portion of the image. And there isn't really a set colour flow... it seems very "blue bit, brown bit, blue bit, brown bit, explosion!" The stars are too noisy, and the ones near the planets are too large to look realistic. The composition seems very basic, it's all thrown to one side of the image in the middle... it's a nice start, but it needs touching up.

one question, how do you spherize your planets so its not all choppy around the edges?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

dilekt In reply to Bareck [2006-03-06 22:43:44 +0000 UTC]

I spherize it twice, but i scale the planet down. I also use a high-res texture.

Not many pieces leave me so stunned. This is excellent and vivid, so much so that I feel like I'm there in a way.
i think you did an awesome job with the terrain. the different color and lighting changes and the way it would makes sense since all the light sources in a real situation like this.
i envy you. lol this kind of stuff motivates me.
