That 18-70 is not half bad for IR.
Nice work on this, the framing is good and great tones.

on the converted body, the hotspot is manageable, if the shot is slightly underexposed and levelled up afterwards. 18-55 MK I and II are said to work better for IR as they have only 7 lens elements.

ahh ok, good to know. I'm hoping to upgrade my camera body soon and look forward to having my D70s converted.
how are you liking the converted body?

I'm loving it. Makes things much easier and allows more creativity. But the long exposure effect is part of the erie "IR" feeling, and this one's missing from the realtime landscape shots. Actual waves on IR-waterscapes look silly.
On the tech side, read my first thoughts here: [link]
People on DA using converted bodies: ~ericbb ~postred ~tisbone and a lot of asian deviants I can't remember. Check them out!

yum, absolutely gorgeous. I've seen this done alot, and very successfully but this one stands out because the tree itself has some great highlights that translate will in the infrared. Really great planning in this shot.

The realtime ability (no motion blur) gives these shots the contrast that you are referring to.

Now, I am actually willing to read about infra red photography.

that's because in infrared, clear skies become almost black when exposed properly.
