Description Hey, book. Uh, wow, not the best starting sentence, is it? I'm no wordmancer, but I'll take what I can get, so here goes. Most books start with an introduction, right?
I've only read a few BOOK books, you know? I mean, I know my way around a SCRIPT, and I can play sheet music like nobody's business, but, uh, no time for novels. I just don't have the patience.
So I wonder why now I'm even picking up this pen and putting it to paper? Some kind of dark, perverse pleasure in writing down SECRETS, maybe? Or perhaps inspiration for later, when I can turn these thoughts into something tangible like a song, or a dance?
I don't know just what it is. Until just before I didn't even know I had a blank book in my pack. Damn thing must have been bogging me down for ages and I didn't even notice it until now. Blah. Must have been Linley who slipped it in there when I wasn't looking, the bastard. That's the second time he's pulled a fast one on me.

But oh right, the introduction. Welcome, reader [Me and me only, UNLESS I DIE OR AM MUGGED], to the travel records of Rena Silversong, the Dance of the North Moon acclaimed Bard, Dancer, Songstress, and lover. (And also Mercenary Leader, apparently. We'll see how long that one sticks)
Current date is, uh... Huh. What IS the date? 213 years since the War of Magic, right? Or was it 214... Time flies when you're having fun, right? I guess I kind of stumbled into town in a haze. Oh well, time's not what matters. Place is.
Current PLACE is Celastar, nice little city in the southwest. I ended up here after my hijinx with the 'ever lovely' Linley went sour and I had to trudge, alone, through an onslaught of terrible weather. I'd rather not talk about that. The point is I'm here and I recovered from my terrible music-deprived state.

While we're on introductions, I may as well go over my current companions. I managed to pick them up fast enough after stumbling into town, which isn't unexpected for one of my, ahem, personal charms.

First up is Irena the warrior. Heh, yeah, coincidence, I know. Must be a travellers name or something. It's cool, though. I'm fine with sharing.
She's strong as the Nine Hells and fights using a greatsword, a respectable weapon. Theatrical, almost, really, isn't it? The greatsword, I mean. Such an oversized weapon, it's almost unimaginable that it could be used effectively, but there you have someone swinging it around, cleaving foes in half! It's like stage magic, but it's right there!
You wouldn't think so watching her fight, but I'm SURE she's got some Elf in her. Can't quite tell if it's half or a quarter or some distant relative. It's the ears, you know. No matter how far back there's been an Elf in their lineage, you can tell there's a bit of it there by the ears.
You learn to steer clear of Elves when you associate with the people I do, for the most part. But this one's alright, actually. She appreciates a beer as much as the next guy, which I can really get into. And she's damn good at pulling her weight in a brawl, too. You never have to worry about her messing up, because she's tough enough to take it.
But beyond that, there's this other vibe I get that I haven't gotten in a LONG time. Since Havrnir, maybe, but even then, was it really the same? Basically we have a connection, I guess, is the best way to put it. We dance to the same music and it's as if neither of us can step on each other's toes, if you get it. Hard to put into words... We get each other, I suppose?
I don't like to get bogged down on one person, especially people I've newly met in a new place, but we've been through a lot together already, compared to some other places, and she's the first time I've felt this connection with since Havrnir. It'd be a sign of bad writing if I could guess the plot so soon, but if I were less theatrically inclined, I'd wager there'll be more kinds of connections in our future. <3
(Note to self: Try to keep this one around. Don't do any of your usual burgeoning romance shit here, either. That means no backstabbing and skipping town like what you did with Ismand. See where this one goes. She's not the type to fuck you over like Linley, though if she does then that's just another person I'll need to get revenge on. Sigh.)

Next I guess I should mention that dog thing. I don't even know where he went off to, but I have the disturbing feeling I haven't seen the last of him, so I may as well write down my thoughts.
I forget his name. He's some shaggy guy in a wolf pelt who showed up at the Frozen Bagel Inn at the same time as Irena and I and proceeded to help out with those bandits. He's not a bad guy, but he's dumber than anyone else I've ever met, and I've met Orcs. I guess he was raised by wolves or something? I don't understand how he knew Common if that was the case, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Speaking of doubts, there is no doubt he's strong. He's like a berserker packin' man and a half when it comes to fighting, so I guess this is the power that animal insticts brings to the table. I'd liken him to an Orc Barbarian in fighting style, though a little more wild, even by Orc standards; he'd just give it his all and throw caution to the wind.
I enjoy that about Barbarians, really. Getting lost in that moment. For some people it's dance, but for others, fighting is their dance. Killing shit in ridiculous ways with a gigantic axe is their means of expression.
It's always so heartwarming to see a psychopath chop a defenseless enemy into a billion pieces before calming down from their blood frenzy. It's kind of peaceful when you watch someone so lost in what they're doing that they lose sight of everything else. A Dance Macabre.
Also I think this guy had fleas. Ew.
He disappeared a while back, but he'll show up again, I'm sure. He has our scents.
(Note to self: If you can train him, he could end up being a good doggie. He's probably too out of control for that, though. I wonder how far his wild instincts will really take him...)

As far as companions go, we get to our third and final one, Persephone (Seph), the Archive-fist. Apparently she punches books at things, though I haven't seen this in use. So far I've just seen her healing people, so maybe she has some of those holy magics that Clerics cast. She said something about not being a slave to a god, so maybe that's not right. I don't know, but something tells me I don't really want to know.
This girl is weird. She's pretty shy, but she does seem to have a few of the same beliefs as I do. Primarily, we both like money, by the looks of it. And as long as she keeps treading the same path as I am, I'm honored to call her a companion. She saved our asses more than once in the two days I've known her, so she gets a free pass in my books.
I think most noticable about her though is that this girl is "Whoa". I mean, like, "Woosh", you know? Absolutely "Yowza!". She pretends she doesn't know what we mean, but she's just being coy. We can all see it, and I know she's smiling about it on the inside. I know I would be.
She has her share of secrets, actually. Like, why does she know so much about undead? I mean, sure, it came in handy, but a fist fighter shouldn't know that much weird stuff.
Maybe undead are like a hobby to her? Maybe tampering with the unholy creations of necromancy is her way of dancing? I never thought of this until now, but I think that makes a lot of sense. She doesn't show a lot on the outside (She won't even drink ale!) but maybe she was dancing during that fight, when she got to watch all those shambling corpses? I'll have to ask her. I don't know if I'll get a straight answer, but I'd like to know.
(Note to self: She's just absolutely "Shazam"! Damn, it's almost too much to bear!)

Oh man, running out of room on the page. And I wanted to write about our situation, too. Blahhh, oh well. Maybe next time.

Until then, Rena Silversong out. Or um, however you end pages of a book. I'm not good with literature. Uh, END FRAGMENT.

This is awesome and quite long but I find this actually awfully enjoyable. I love seeing the inside thoughts of characters and you write it in an awesome Rena fashion. Also maybe I like my characters being talked about.

Who the fuck writes SHORT journals? There's no limit to the amount to be written, why place some arbitrary limit?
Maybe this is SHORT, and you're just used to SUPER-SHORT?

Also yeah that was part of the point was to talk about other characters, because that's always more interesting than it just being about Rena and her dumb boring past and stupid mundane thoughts.

It's alot of text, but I think Shai could learn a thing or two from Rena about writing interesting diary entries.

Damn son what a sick burn.
Also yeah, I wrote this in notepad with very little regards for formatting. It looks like a lot less when you view it there, I didn't think there was this much.
It's a horrible mess but gotta start somewhere to get the important things done in the first entry I guess.
