Haru is a puzzling individual, to put it nicely.

Terminally apathetic, Haru has always had trouble expressing himself, or even feeling himself. As upsetting as it was for others to witness, it was infinitely worse to experience himself. He liked to train because it made him feel less real. He liked to doodle because it made him feel less real. He liked to sit in his room and space out for hours on end because it made him feel less real. He lived his days mourning the moment and praying for the future. Things would be ok in the future.

That's what he'd always believed, anyways, and though it hadn't happened in the way he anticipated, it was the truth. The future became the present, and it presented him with a little man named Callum. Callum was... stimulating. So much more stimulating than anything he'd experienced before. It didn't take much to rouse some reactions from him, and the reactions made him feel so much more, so much deeper than he'd ever felt in his life. He wasn't sure what it was about him, either. Maybe it was the way his tiny, pale hands would nervously fidget with his hair, unsure of what to do now that he'd set his eyes on him. Maybe it was the way his fluffy brown hair would shield his humiliated face from making direct eye contact with his new bully. Maybe it was the way his round, timid eyes would scan his entire body like a trapped dove, searching for an indication as to whether he'd continue tormenting him or not.

Another thing he hadn't anticipated was that, unlike anyone else who'd take to routinely picking on another, and unlike Haru had ever done for anyone before, he really, truly cared about the wellbeing of his new plaything. In the past, he'd easily been able to ignore his peers' problems, uninterested in their losing of family members or break out fights in the halls. He didn't care about what his communion whispered about him, or how they'd berate his entire family for his lack of empathy. Now, when saddled with a person he could push around for his own enjoyment, he watched the reactions he loved to spark closely, diligently, all to ensure he wasn't actually upsetting him. He found that if his Dove wasn't happy, he wasn't happy, either. After the last lifetime of being decidedly unhappy, he couldn't care less about how weird he was being. He'd tease and pick on and kiss and bully Callum as he saw fit, and not a single other soul would dare to interrupt.

He'd never been happier than he is having Callum in his life, being able to spend his days teasing his plaything and leisurely floating through his classes. That was the tragedy of the situation, was it not? Finally allowed to feel, finally allowed to be real, Haru knew it wouldn't last. Haru knew that the future he'd spent so long anticipating would come when he was happiest, and suddenly, it wasn't as comforting a proposition as it had been. Now he's at a crossroads, unsure of whether or not he should pursue his feelings or stick to his duty. He's not sure if stressing out about it feels better than feeling nothing at all.

Remake of thisssss babes

This is proooobably not this week's post? I'd rather do an actual drawing lol.

I've been trying to rework Haru's ref sheet for a while now (the original was drawn specifically to make him look more "generic" and not as specifically big/buff so I'd be able to draw him better but it had the reverse effect lol), but it didn't help that it took a while to decide what kind of dude I wanted him to be. Gotta say, for a wedgie fetishist, it took too damn long to figure out that Haru would be a bully-boyfriend. Yep, that's his character. He's always had issues w his feelings and emotions, but finds bullying a Specific Dork helps to stir something inside of him. He's big, strong, and struggles with apathy, a perfect foil to the tiny, wimpy, overly-emotional Callum.
