Personality : Ayumu might have been a bright and energetic young man, if not for his background. Over the years of hardship and strife, he had become quiet and reserved, keeping mostly to himself. Despite his stern exterior, however, he can crack relatively easily with very specific triggers. He can be pushed so far as to suffer mood swings and panic attacks. Perhaps due to his own fragility, Ayumu is very compassionate for the less fortunate, and in general, a generous individual.

History:

In the western corner of the Jade Imperium, near the border between Bronze Coast and the ancient empire, many rural villagers held the belief that horns off of wild games were precious: horns of cloyster, rapidash, donphan, and many more pokemons were frequently grind up into powder and drank for their “medicinal” properties. The most precious of horns, however, came from slowkings – symbols of wisdom and longevity. The longer the horns, the better, so local healers aimed to obtain the lengthiest slowking horns – some resorting to take them from slowking gijinkas.

Ayumu was born in a remote farming village of slowbros, living a slow-paced life. Everything changed when the fire nation attacked when a band of Charizard bandits attacked, setting the village and its grass fields ablaze. Ayumu, 10 years old at the time, escaped the village with a band of neighboring children – only to be stopped by a Charizard named Xiao Zheng, who introduced himself as an officer from the local magistrate. Xiao Zheng spirited the children to a nearby safehouse, as he called it, and gave them comfort and food – or so they thought. Soon, the older kids in the group learned of Xiao Zheng’s real plans: to enslave them and make them evolve into slowkings, as the formerly kind Charizard was, in fact, the leader of the bandits. By that time, escape was already out of the question – bogged down by chains, drugs, and hard labor, Ayumu evolved and grew, slowly but surely.

Five years passed, and the group Ayumu had grown up with was, as the industry called it, ripe for slaughter. One by one, as slowkings, their horns was cut off, and their bodies discarded – some were killed, some were mutilated so they would keep quiet and beg, and some sold into prostitution and slavery far, far away; All, except for Ayumu, who remained due to the delayed growth of his horns. Two more years flew by, and the hideout the bandits stayed at was suddenly attacked. By whom, Ayumu didn’t stay long enough to find out – he escaped as fast and as far as he could. He went back to the only place he knew… only to find his home village now in ruins.

What was he supposed to do now? Except to… die.

Ayumu woke up, sore and throbbing with pain, to find a monk leaning over himself. Live, live, PLEASE LIVE – he heard the monk yelling at him. His attempt to suicide had failed. The monk tended to him for the preceding months as he recovered, and at the same time, taught him about medicine.

Surely you were saved from the jaws of death for a reason. Surely.

With those words echoing in his mind, Ayumu traveled across the sea to escape from further influences by the Charizard bandits. With his heart set on learning more about medicine, he made his first stop at Scorched Mountain – only to be stopped by Zen, a harmless gijinka but regardless… a Charizard. Zen’s talk of becoming a fighter struck a sorrow-filled chord within the Slowking, and he designated himself as the Charizard’s healer mentor.

Not that Zen minded; after all, Ayumu was rather manly 8D
