So, episode 33 of Smile Pretty Cure aired, and it might as well be my new favorite episode. What seemed like wishful thinking from the fandom happened for real: Pop got a human form, and a criminally sexy one at that rate. I wouldn't mind going to Märchenland for that.

After rewatching the episode for who-knows-how-many times and brainstorming about if pairing Pop with one of the Cures would be a good idea and which one would fit better with him, I settled that Reika would be the most fitting match for him. True, they never actually interacted by themselves yet (other than maybe the battle against Joker in episode 23), but I feel that they would click nicely, due to the whole "ancient Japan" shtick they have in common: she's a total yamato nadeshiko, polite, graceful, and mild-mannered, but forceful and tough when the time asks for it, and he's a serious-business samurai/ninja manly-man. He can protect her, and if he's brought down, she can step up and protect him too. In fact, I'm so into this ship I thought of a name for it: Popsicleshipping (referring to Pop's own name and Cure Beauty being an ice elemental).
