Description Name: Ebirah
MONARCH Codename: LOBSTER
Scientific name: Deinoastakos pterygia (finned terrible lobster)
Height: 22 meters
Length (not counting arms): 210 meters
Diet: Carnivore
Affiliation: Major Kaiju (Guardian)

Overview: A Kaiju being socially awkward is probably a concept that would near-universally result in laughter. That said, the most famous example of this is Ebirah, a colossal lobster who has provided a successful defence of Skull Island for years.

History: Ebirah appeared on the scene around the same time as Oodako, though unlike his close friend he is native to Skull Island. Born to the last breeding pair of Deinoastakos pterygia lobsters (who were frequently hunted and eaten by all manner of Skull Island creatures intelligent enough to fish, including the ever-aggressive Megaprimatus kongi and Gorosaurus ischyropodi, and so went into decline) Ebirah grew up with the influence of his parents through-out most of his life, with them ultimately being killed by Gaw and her Deathrunners during the Primal Rage when Ebirah had entered adulthood. The giant lobster grew up fairly sheltered, as his parents knew full well of Skull Island's dangers and wanted to protect him from them, but despite his resulting social awkwardness Ebirah chose to rise up as a Guardian of the island, even stopping Gaw herself from escaping at one point with Oodako’s help. Near the start of his protecting the island, Ebirah entered an alliance with Oodako in order to prevent them from competing. This alliance allowed them to safeguard Skull Island from outside threats and keep its monsters within whilst everything else was trying to kill each other, and thus may have saved Skull Island and the rest of the world. The two ultimately entered an alliance with Kong (despite an initial battle with the king of Skull Island) which they have stuck to since, and so were ultimately on the winning side of the Primal Rage.
Ebirah has protected Skull Island from the sea ever since. However, unlike Oodako he sometimes leaves for areas further from his protectorate out of curiosity, though only when the giant lobster knows that the island would be safe with his absence. Due to this, he was seen far more of the world than most Skull Island Kaiju, though even then he has only been in an area stretching between Indonesia and the Northern Mariana Islands (though obviously he visited Japan to battle Destoroyah). Though initially he was thought to be malevolent and ended up fighting the Indonesian navy off the coast of Bengkulu, humanity and Ebirah have now managed to get that sorted out.

Powers, abilities and weaknesses: Ebirah is another almost complete melee fighter. In terms of defence, he has his robust, armoured exoskeleton, which protects the giant lobster from most attacks, even being able to resist Godzilla's atomic breath for a few seconds. Ebirah's most obvious weapons are his massive, powerful claws, which, due to their spikes and pointed ends, can be used not just grabbing foes in their grip and crushing them but also for clubbing and impaling enemies. The giant lobster is even known to occasionally utilise tools due to Oodako's guidance, the most common manifestation of this being Ebirah throwing giant boulders he digs up in the underwater caverns or on Skull Island's coastline at enemies as a sort-of ranged attack for him. The spikes that cover Ebirah's scarlet shell can be used in combat too, as the giant malacostracan can impale foes with them by ramming into them. In terms of locomotion, Ebirah can move on land, being able to breathe oxygen and thus survive as long on the surface as he can underwater, but his small legs and clumsy claws result in him being better adapted to life in the sea. Specifically, Ebirah uses his powerful trail and eurypterid-like fins to navigate the seas. When needing to make a quick getaway, he can release a large burst of water he has absorbed into chinks, holes and pores through-out his tail and fins which allows him to speed through the seas, though since Ebirah has little control over his movement when doing this it's only a last resort he uses either to blast and disorientate enemies (or give his ram a little more power against them) or to escape from creatures too powerful for him. When the giant lobster goes onto land, he releases all of his water and absorbs air to accomplish the same effect. Though Ebirah isn't exactly the most unique Kaiju in terms of combative abilities, he is still a dangerous and competent opponent.
Ebirah has a few weaknesses. Firstly, as stated before, he is slow and cumbersome on land thanks to his splayed legs and awkward claws, and so mostly stays in the sea in order to battle. Secondly, Ebirah has a weakness for soma juice (even more so than most creatures) due to his more sensitive sense of taste. Many individuals who have attempted to get into Skull Island have manipulated this, spreading around soma juice to hurt and distract the giant lobster. His other weakness is heat: though Ebirah can survive heat attacks for a few seconds (such as the aforementioned incident where he dealt with Godzilla’s atomic breath), they ultimately start to disintegrate his exoskeleton after a while. This has been exploited by some of Skull Island’s more malevolent monsters, such as Diablo, but fortunately for Ebirah Oodako is never far away when he’s dealing with the island’s monsters.

Personality: Ebirah, as stated before, is rather shy and awkward. He struggles to interact with other creatures outside of combat, and is particularly cautious around new individuals. He’s often overzealous in his work due to Oodako’s perceived help in making him more social, though this happens significantly less than with the giant octopus and he is starting to stamp this behaviour out entirely. Due to his shyness, Ebirah prefers to stay by himself or with Oodako, his closest friend.

Relationships: Even amongst his fellow Guardians of Skull Island, Ebirah is shy. Though he’s on good terms with all of them (even the Saw Serpent, as the giant lobster is amongst the few Kaiju to know that he is not to be feared), he is too awkward to converse with them much. Ebirah is closest to Oodako due to their years in an alliance, and the giant octopus comes with his friend for social gatherings to help him out. With all this said, Ebirah has formed an odd friendship with Hedorah. Though the two initially fought due to smog monster’s corrosive armour, they have since become close friends. Ebirah has started to convince Hedorah to become more aware of his armour’s deadly effects, largely due to the other Skull Island Guardians attempting to kill Hedorah at every turn when he visits his malacostracan friend.
Ebirah has no personal enemies, viewing all of them with the same anger for attempting to harm Skull Island.
Modern humanity and Ebirah got off to a rocky start. He actually attacked and pursued the Seahawk when it first came to Skull Island in 1995 due to thinking it was a threat to Skull Island, with the submarine only making it out of there in one piece due to the quick thinking of MONARCH operative Jiro Nomura, who tossed a supply of soma juice acquired by the island’s initial expedition overboard, causing Ebirah to make a quick retreat. His ventures out into the rest of the world post-2014 resulted in similar conflict due to this initial attack and Ebirah accidentally destroying an oil rig out of curiosity, resulting in a massive oil spill (though the giant lobster was so wrecked with guilt he informed Mothra of what had happened almost immediately, and she was able to clean up the damage). Continued assaults on Ebirah by both the Indonesian and US navy led to him attacking ships on sight, exacerbating the conflict. Eventually, Ebirah and the navy worked together against a pair of impaler dragons that had escaped from Skull Island and were ravaging the waters around Jakarta, ending the conflict when Ebirah saved Jakarta’s trade. The Iwi have always seen Ebirah as benevolent, though they have misinterpreted his awkwardness as a secretive nature and so worship him as the god of secrets and lies.

Main Character Inspiration: Ebirah
Appearance inspirations: The Godzilla: Final Wars incarnation of Ebirah, various lobster species, eurypterids and my own imagination

Godzilla: Final Wars, Ebirah, Destoroyah, Godzilla, Mothra and Oodako belong to Toho
Gaw and the Deathrunners belong to Dark Horse
Primal Rage and Diablo belong to Time Warner Interactive
There was just something oddly adorable I pictured about AoK Ebirah which quickly evolved into him being adorkable, hence why he is socially awkward of all things here.
