Description Name: Saw Serpent
MONARCH Codename: SAWHEAD
Scientific name: Prioniophis fovotan (feared saw serpent)
Height: 108.4 meters (usual height counting the neck and head when not fully stretched out or squashed)
Length: 500 meters (usual length when not fully stretched out or squashed)
Diet: Carnivore
Affiliation: Major Kaiju (Guardian)

Overview: Sometimes, those who are meant to be allies don't quite get along. Often, this is an aggressive rivalry, though sometimes it can manifest itself as fear. Once such feared ally is the Saw Serpent, though this antisocial Guardian doesn't seem to mind this fear all that much.

History: Much of the Saw Serpent's history is unknown, as the Iwi and other Guardians were simply too scared to interact with the beast. The saw-jawed monster isn't actually a reptile, but a dinosaur so derived that a proper classification cannot be reached (though he's most likely a derived theropod). From what is known, the Saw Serpent seemed to have just appeared in the swamps one day during the reign of Valla, instantly claiming it as his territory and protecting it from problems. Though some of the more radical Megaprimatus kongi went to deal with the Saw Serpent (and were subsequently killed by him), the serpentine beast kept himself to himself mostly, even during the Primal Rage. However, due to the battle royale that ended the Rage coming into his valley, the Saw Serpent ultimately did come to the aid of his fellow Guardians, providing them with the backup necessary to win the battle and thus secure Skull Island’s continued prosperity.
The Saw Serpent continues to guard the swamps to this very day. His other Guardians fear him, as though he aided greatly in the final battle of the Primal Rage his continued antisocial attitude and extremely violent methods he employed during the battle (and has used against other Kaiju before and since) haven't exactly made him popular. The Saw Serpent is almost pleased by this, as he seems to prefer his own company.

Powers, abilities and weaknesses: The Saw Serpent is easily Skull Island's most powerful Kaiju (despite being almost a pure melee fighter), with some even going so far as to say that he is as dangerous as Godzilla. The saw-jawed monster possesses a few abilities outside of his iconic sawteeth (which are actually plates of bone rather like a placoderm's eating tools, though the saws are embedded in holes in his jaws). Firstly, he is surprisingly agile, especially when comparing his almost dainty legs with his heavy body. This is mostly put down to the Saw Serpent's incredible reaction times, as he mostly darts forward in short, leaping, elegant bursts. Indeed, the Saw Serpent is a surprisingly graceful creature, with some reports and videos even depicting him twirling like a ballerina as he battles with his foes. This grace and agility allows the Saw Serpent to dodge attacks, and he also possesses an incredibly thick hide for when he is hit. The Saw Serpent is also an adept swimmer, using his muscular body and powerful, finned tail to power through the murky waters of the swamps he inhabits. His orange eyes can easily pierce through these dark depths, and so prey and enemies rarely escape him. The Saw Serpent's primary weapons (apart from his sawteeth) are his crushing coils and that same powerful tail, the former often being used to asphyxiate enemies and the latter capable of being used at such force that it can break bones. The derived dinosaur's quills aren't just for show: they can be embedded in enemies, irritating and hurting them immensely, and are also biolithic, containing copper and various other conductive materials which allow him to absorb most heat and electricity attacks and even reflect them back at his opponents. Of course, the most dangerous of all the Saw Serpent's capabilities is his sawteeth. Spun using rope-like muscles (but carefully held in place by chunkier lumps of flesh), these vicious bone plates can be used to slice apart almost any substance, and some suspect they may be biolithically enhanced rather like the Saw Serpent's quills. In some cases which are disturbingly satisfying to watch, the saw-toothed saurian will snatch up Kaiju in his jaws and spin both of his sawteeth, causing a thin, spilling geyser of blood and grinded body parts to fly off the Kaiju from the point where the sawteeth connects with both bone and flesh. Most victims of these lethal weapons die of bloodloss, though especially dangerous individuals or creatures with regenerative abilities are kept in the Saw Serpent's spinning plates for as long as possible until fall to pieces or get one of their vital organs destroyed. Particularly due to his lethal sawteeth, the Saw Serpent has earned the lens of fear which all creatures of Skull Island see him through.
The Saw Serpent's weaknesses are largely unknown to the Iwi and the other Skull Island gods, though we at MONARCH do know of one he has (and have not told either of those two parties as we are worried as to what they would do with that information): his surprising grace can be easily upended, as his colossal bulk and thin legs make for a bad combination. Even hitting one of the Saw Serpent's legs can result in him toppling over, and his immense length and small limbs result in him finding it difficult to get up. Due to this, enemy Kaiju can easily pummel the feared beast, though the Saw Serpent is fully aware of this and thus takes precautions using his speed and agility.

Personality: The Saw Serpent is best described as an antisocial bugger. He prefers his own company, staying on his own in his swampy domain. Due to this, he is pleased by his reputation and even cultivates it through an air of sinister, almost detached grumpiness which is part real, part fake. Whatever the case, the Saw Serpent is a grouchy loner, but will team up with other Kaiju when particularly powerful enemies show up.

Relationships: Due to the antisocial nature of the Saw Serpent and his feared nature, he has little to no significant allies apart from Oodako. Due to the giant octopus pursuing invaders into the swamps, he has encountered the Saw Serpent multiple times and is aware that there is nothing to fear. He is one of the few Kaiju the derived dinosaur can put up with due to him often being amused by the colossal cephalopod's badass antics and eventually getting to know Oodako more as a result. Ebirah by proxy is also aware that there is nothing to fear and is welcome to the Saw Serpent's home as he feels a bit sorry for the giant lobster's awkwardness, though he is a significantly less frequent visitor simply because he spends most of his time out in the seas around Skull Island.
The Saw Serpent has no personal relationship with any of his enemies, viewing them all with the same anger and treating them all with the same viciousness.
The Saw Serpent is considered just another Guardian of Skull Island by MONARCH, delivering a valuable service. The Iwi, however, fear him greatly, though still worship him as the god of weaponry. It is speculated by MONARCH due to study of Iwi cave paintings that the Saw Serpent does actually have a name for him, "Omkhulinyoka", but since the Iwi themselves and people who have spent the most amount of time studying their culture have yet to and probably never will confirm that this name is highly speculative at best.

Ah yes the saw serpent. One of the many odd creatures scrapped from KSI. I really like it when artist take some scrapped creatures from some movies and make it into something good but often times that is rare. This is one of the good ones :3.

Thank-you! He's far from the only scrapped or obscure monsters in AoK, there are quite a few of them hanging around the place.

One of my faves that i wished they kept was the Icarus tiger. A giant sub kaiju tiger is terrifying enough (let alone its something from skull island) but it also has antlers and the ability to freaking glide. That one i wish they kept.

That’ll be included in AoK as a form of Skull Island wildlife. I wasn’t aware that it could glide!

Ah, fair point. I just assumed that it was a random, weird little thing they were doing as I didn’t see any wings or patagia on the tigers.

Sorry, but I’m not getting involved in any drama. If Tonholt’s blocked it’s for what he thinks is a good reason, so even if someone did ask him it’s unlikely that he’d unblock you. Sorry.
