Description And thus we begin our last film in Phase 1, King Kong vs Godzilla! We've got five new monsters to get through this time, but don't worry: I want to make the titular battle as awesome as I possibly can! Our first addition for the film's monsters is the Cetus, who has a role to play in the big bad's plans. His design is based off of mosasaurs and the Skullcrawlers, with (yet again) plating on his back. With all that said, let's begin!

MONARCH files:
Cetus by Ishiro Serizawa
Despite relatively not lasting too long against Godzilla in battle, the Cetus may serve a very important role in mankind's continued interactions with Kaiju. The sea creature's origins are classified until I create files on its allies, but I can definitely say that this Kaiju was created deliberately (though it was so convincingly crafted into a form similar to a natural Kaiju it was originally thought to be a species of mosasaur). The Cetus was as long as Godzilla, but obviously far shorter. It could also swim as fast as him and had immensely powerful jaws. However, one surprising aspect of the creature was its ability to walk on land. Later dissections of the Cetus' corpse revealed that its massive lungs were strengthened with muscle so it could survive on land, and its limbs were extraordinarily muscled. The Cetus also appeared to be highly intelligent, setting traps for the military and often outwitting Godzilla, but it's unclear whether this was merely its creator lending a helping hand or its own intellect. The Cetus' blood was also highly flammable. The only known weaknesses of the Cetus is that is was not as durable as most Kaiju, despite its plating and it was far slower on land than in water. Despite its lack of special abilities, the Cetus was the catalyst in starting Operation: KVG...

King Kong vs Godzilla by Ishiro Serizawa
At the start of December 2019, a mosasaur-like Kaiju, dubbed the Cetus, was sighted off the coast of mainland Greece. Mere days after this sighting, the Cetus was spotted all over the Greek coast, attacking ships heading to the mainland. The military attempted to slay the beast, but to no avail. The animal was exceptionally smart, setting traps for the military and frequently ambushing them. Fortunately, after two weeks of the monster prowling the coast, Godzilla had finally arrived. By this point, the Cetus was not too far from Athens, and the city trembled at the prospect of a Kaiju wrecking their harbour. However, they would soon realise that much more destruction than that was about to take place. In the early morning, Godzilla's iconic dorsal plates had been spotted making a beeline to where the Cetus had last been sighted. The king of the monsters began investigating the area, rooting through the sea floor and sniffing the air, but he did not notice the Cetus sneak up behind him until the mosasaur-like Kaiju bit one of his smaller dorsal plates. Godzilla howled in pain as the Cetus pulled and teared at the plate, almost pulling it off. But Godzilla soon regained his composure and, after swatting the empty ocean for a few seconds, backhanded the Cetus away. The king of the monsters then pounced upon the sea monster, impaling his claws and biting deep into its back. The two foes plummeted into the sand, Godzilla raking his claws across the Cetus' back. But the sea monster would not be defeated so easily and smacked the monster king in the face with its paddle-like tail, spraying sand into his eyes in the process. With Godzilla blinded, the Cetus wriggled free from his grip and dived towards his face, jaws wide open, only to be smacked upside the head by Godzilla's blindly thrashing tail. The monster king soon regained his vision and started smacking his opponent with his tail repeatedly, only for the sea monster to bite on to its tip. Though Godzilla was too heavy for the Cetus to lift, the monstrous creature was still able to drag the monster king into a sand dune on the sea floor, sending it crashing down on top of him. Knowing that Godzilla would not be contained for long, the Cetus swum up to the surface, intent on going down swinging. Somehow the creature was able to crawl onto dry land, and it began to move slowly into Athens. Though the Cetus was as fast as Godzilla in water, it moved slowly on land. Had the beast been faster, many more would have died. The Cetus carved a path of destruction through Athens, soon making a stop at the acropolis and lying down on top of the ancient building, somehow not collapsing it under its weight. However, Godzilla was soon able to free himself from the dune and, after recovering his senses, made his way onto land too. As slow as the monster king was on land, even he was faster than the Cetus. The mosasaur-like creature waited almost patiently for Godzilla to arrive. When the king of the monsters finally got up close to his opponent on land, he swung his fist down at the sea monster. The Cetus threw itself off the acropolis, crashing down upon the houses below. Godzilla's fist smashed the building's roof, causing the acropolis to cave in. Growling in frustration, he leapt from the acropolis and landed on top of the Cetus, causing blood to shoot out of his opponent's mouth and crushing the buildings below it. The Cetus slid out from beneath Godzilla, causing the monster king to fall backwards and land on the slope of the acropolis' mountain. The giant dinosaur struggled back up as the Cetus fled from him. Godzilla roared in anger and charged after his slippery foe, crushing buildings and those unfortunate enough not to get out of the way of the battle in his wake. However, the Cetus had a large head start and had soon reached the water's edge. With no other choice, Godzilla stopped in his tracks. His plates and mouth glowed blue and the atomic breath shot forth from his mouth. The Cetus was on the beach when the fiery blast chopped it in two. However, the Cetus had a quality nobody expected: its blood, which glowed a bright blue, would explode upon contact with Godzilla's atomic breath. And, unfortunately, there was a ridiculous amount of blood within the creature. The blood was soon all over the beach and the buildings nearby. Though the front half of the Cetus survived the explosion, its back half and a large part of Athens was not so lucky. Even Godzilla was forced to shield himself from the gigantic explosion his breath caused. When the dust cleared, the monster king looked upon his foe's torso and gave a half-hearted victory roar before leaving to the sea. It was clear that Godzilla realised that his actions would undoubtedly have highly negative consequences. And indeed they did. The Greek government demanded justice, that Godzilla would somehow be reigned in or even killed. The US, despite Godzilla's appearance undoubtedly saving Las Vegas, soon agreed to back Greece in the UN meeting which was set up about the issue. President Templar had been starting an anti-Kaiju rhetoric since the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms incident, and saw even the heroic Kaiju as too destructive. Other countries, terrified of the Kaiju threat, soon sided with the US. Of course, there was opposition, Japan being the most vocal country against Godzilla being killed. However, too many were paranoid and wanted to protect their shores from Kaiju. It seemed as if the world's leaders had all gone made, as who would protect them if Godzilla was not around? The battle with the Cetus may have been highly destructive, but Godzilla had saved most of the city, had not meant to destroy a treasured landmark and didn't know what effect his atomic breath would have on the Cetus' blood. Of course, many argued that if Godzilla had not been there then there would have been no destruction, but if he didn’t arrive the Cetus would still be preying on ships. To solve the problem of a lack of a saviour Kaiju if Godzilla was killed, many countries were suggesting to start constructing giant robots, something Templar had actually been trying (and failing, though apparently he'd been making slight progress) to do since Godzilla's first appearance (he already hated Kaiju before the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms incident, but his rhetoric greatly increased when their was a Kaiju attack on American soil). However, the most surprising thing that happened within the UN was MONARCH agent Sinon Hippos turning on his own organisation and suggesting the most insane idea quite possibly in the history of the human race: capturing King Kong and making him fight Godzilla. The USA, Greece and the countries backing them agreed to this plan, as long as the battle took place in a place devoid of human life. The location chosen was a humanless area of the French Alps. Despite massive protests and very vocal opposition, the US and Greece were able to pull off this insane plan. Gamera was one of the few Kaiju who many agreed was completely good and so nobody wanted to risk him taking on someone as powerful as Godzilla and Rhedosaurus had been missing from his usual stomping ground of Cuba for weeks and was probably too weak to take on the king, so Kong was the "ideal" candidate. And so the most insane and stupid operation in the history of the human race began: capturing Kong, bringing him to the Alps, attracting Godzilla there with a nuclear reactor and forcing the two Kaiju to duke it out. Sinon Hippos did not return to MONARCH that day. In fact, he never did return. He was going to be with President Templar and the Greek government, almost eagerly awaiting the fight between the two kings. The operation would soon be named Operation KVG.
To be continued...
Godzilla belongs to Toho
King Kong and Rhedosaurus belong to Warner Bros
MONARCH and Ishiro Serizawa belong to Legendary

Cool design! I like what you did with the armor plating. The sunken in face reminds me a lot of the Skull Crawlers. Are they (or rather the Reaper Lizards) related in any way?

Thank-you! The Skullcrawlers were an inspiration. As for the Reaper Lizard connection, I never wanted to say it outright but I always had a lingering idea that Axor had used their DNA in the Cetus’ conception.
