Description Triceratops changed a lot as it grew up. Babies have round cute faces with big eyes and little horns. Juveniles have spiky frills and horns that curve backwards. As they matured into adults, the horns started to turn forwards and the frill became smoother around its edge. Pretty cool, eh?

If you google "Triceratops ontogeny" it should be the first set of skulls that result. The reference photo did look odd but it's mainly due to perspectives when the photographer was taking the pictures

Did the brow horns get smaller in the older adults?

The photo series I used for reference showed this trend. Not sure if this is true across the genus or if it's just the case with these individuals. The Saurian team also shows this trend with their trikes (and they would have far better access to research than me!).

Interesting.. I wonder if the bone tissue is reabsorbed or if the horns get worn down by use.

It could also be due to individual variation? This is certainly an interesting trend.
