For those who don't know, Elite BOBs are a little Bungie Easter Egg. Basically, they appear on random levels as gold Rangers who never use their jetpacks, but can withstand a direct hit from a Spartan Laser on Normal and only lose their shields. Eventually, they take cover and mysteriously vanish (as is what happened to the one pictured here, seconds after I took the screenshot). They give you the special "Seek and Destroy" medal that shows up on Bungie.net, and are categorized as "Light Elite Vehicles" on the post-game carnage scoreboard. The name is a reference to Marathon.Elites, Halo, and Marathon belong to Bungie.

I mean, don't their armor look so damn close to actual spartan armor?! Β In other words....Guys doing Halo 5....MAKE IT! Β It is the only way now that you can even keep my damn interest in this series anymore, I mean fucking really!

Such a cool easter egg from Bungie. A funny name for a badass enemy. I swear the jokes around these guys will never stop.
They may not be an official "rank" but are still an interesting enemy to encounter.

I feel like I should mention this about BOBs too: occasionally (usually on Legendary) a random, white-armored Elite with the armor of any Sangheili rank (Minor to Field Marshall) will appear, and will always dual-wield Plasma Rifles. I've seen screenshots of white Minors, white Generals, and white Field Marshalls myself, and I've killed a white Officer before. Apparently, these are all BOBs too.

I've seen these guys too, mainly on ONI Swordbase as you're heading back to the base and have to clear out the front area before engaging the Hunters for the first time. I've seen White SpecOps Elites and a BOB, both of which have had Duel Plasma Rifles.

They usually hide if you don't kill them quickly. This was one of those that got away. I was lucky when one on Nightfall actually charged at me. Then I killed it, died, revert to the last save, and killed it again!
