Being alone and without friends is hard to go through..which is why memories are nice to have, although depressing too. It's a happy memory that's been forgotten, living in the past as if it never existed until a time of need. It becomes sad because it was of a past event, but hopefully one can move on despite the depressing memories.

Those we hold close will eventually move on from where they are to a new place. However, it's their affect on your heart, soul, and mind when they were around, that counts rather than the effect of them leaving. No one's meant to stay with you forever, but you can learn from what they've done and apply it to yourself to be better than you are now.
