Description
So it appears that Silver didn't control much of his strength when holding Marina close and bruised her back. It was an accident and he is sorry, but now he is angry with himself because he has injured the woman he loves. Marina says she's okay, but Silver get out of bed. No he's not walking out on her. He's getting a salve from a first aid kit in his desk to heal the bruises.Now, I really don't want to hear anything about domestic abuse or if something like this happened in that book '50 Shades of Grey' (I haven't even read that book or seen the movie). Accidents like this can happen between lovers, especially if the man is of great strength. But he really didn't mean it.

the concept of the lover who is too powerful and doesn't want to hurt his lover pops up a lot - but I can only think of the example from Twilight. It's usually in stories where the lover is some sort of supernatural person or is otherwise non-human or enhanced creature (in this case a cyborg).
Since you've never read it or watched it, it's more likely it's something lots of people respond to - a sort of fetish or general interest both for the author and their audience.
It's interesting to think about now! I wonder how far back it goes culturally....maybe to Greece and the stories of the gods taking human lovers?

Well, I don't know about a fetish, but I do have a thing for gentle giants such as Silver. And anyone his size and strength, cyborg or not, human or not, there's bound to be an occasional accident like this.

If anyone cries "domestic abuse" at what's clearly an accident that happened in the heat of the moment (especially since it was Silver's mechanical hand that caused them)...they need a serious lesson on what domestic abuse actually is, as well as its three subsets. Physical abuse constitutes constantly hitting your partner with the intent to harm, which obviously wasn't the case here.
Word to the wise: avoid the 50 Shades series. I've never read them myself but according to the BDSM community, they're mostly in agreement that Christian habitually breaks the rules of BDSM, it's a prime example of domestic abuse in all its forms, and it's unforgivably trashy. I take the male lead being named Christian as an insult as well. Why the publisher thought it was a good idea to line bookshelves with this garbage is beyond me. Same goes for people who actually like said garbage. I'm completely against book burnings but I'd gladly make an exception for these four books.
