I don't know wether this was mentioned already, but for some reason it looks like Marina is licking his face - i guess because the lower lip is so much brighter...
but besides that it's a nice drawing. I like the poses and the expressions

Let's see, I saw Treasure Planet the day it came out, Nov. 27 2001. I was 16 at the time. And get this, I'm probably the only person in my whole high school who saw the movie. And he's been my crush ever since.
At first I was just mesmerized by how wonderfully animated he was by my favorite animator Glen Keane. The brilliant idea of how his flesh side is all hand drawn and his cyborg parts are CGI is just amazing. Through the movie I grew attached to his charm and charisma. Then he stole my heart when he showed what a good soul he has when he gave up his treasure to save Jim's life. It was official that day that I had a new favorite character in my life and he is still #1 on my list.
Then I had to wait until April for the movie to come to DVD and I couldn't wait patiently. So, I spent that time collecting things of the move as much as I could and was ever so happy when I found a plush of Silver. I can never forget when I found him at the Disney store at the mall in Ohio at the time. Out of the whole pile, one of them stood out because he actually had his cyborg hand extended out because of the crowded pile. I took him by the hand like a handshake and chose him to be my company when I sleep. He's still at my side at this moment.
Finally when April came around and I got the DVD, I watched the movie over and over memorizing it line by line and I finally started drawing Silver and was getting good at it. As a bit of time passes and the more I looked upon Silver and falling for his charm and charisma, I started realizing that he was quite the handsome guy. I started having a crush on him and it truly was different from all my teen year cartoon crushes at the time since before I practically worshiped Colo-chan (Piccolo) of DBZ.
It wasn't long when I started writing my fanfiction of Marina Seadrift with Silver as her lover since I started her out as an anime character. I can admit that she is a bit of a self insert, but my feelings for him are still different from hers. All in all, I've realized over the years that if I had to choose a guy I want to be with it would be with him. Many would find that crazy, weird, dumb, ect. ect., but because of the Disney Magic I believe in, John Silver is real in my heart and there he will stay.

*sigh* Yes. He called to me. Out of all the other Silver plushies in the pile, it was that one that called to me. Once I shook hands with him, it's like I vowed not to part from him. Now I'm almost 28 years old and I still sleep with him in my arms. Pft, every time my mom sees him sitting on my bed, she always says, 'You're twenty-______ years old Andi and you still sleep with that thing. You need to grow up.'
Grr, that 'THING' she says. I hate it when she calls him 'that THING'. Why do parents think of them as mere toys of cloth and fluff? They're our guardians while we sleep to keep the bad dreams away and to hug when we are sad and there's no one else around.
I suppose it is true love. I'm just a very dedicated fangirl of his. I mean, I've been a fangirl of him longer than I've been for any of my other characters whom I had crushes on. It's going on to twelve years now and I want to be sure that it'll stay that way forever more. Some of the cute anime guys I remember were brief crushes. I can still admit that I have a crush on Colo-chan, but for some reason I just don't get involved with his show anymore. I might still collect artwork of him here on DA and I always say that it's my favorite anime, but all the same, I just stopped watching it. It's kinda like Colo-chan was my first love and now Silver is my true love.
Yeah, I just read that comment by her. I enjoy her collection and stuff to show her dedication to Silver. I guess I have a collectors item that can top them all off though.
I have a drawing of John Silver that was drawn by Glen Keane himself! And he ALMOST signed it, but he didn't because then it would be far to valuable and expensive, but you can barely see his name that was erased. My best friend gave it to me as a gift after he got to meet Glen Keane.

I can tell my mom that I sleep better with my plushie of him, but how do you tell your parents that your one true love is a person who is real only in your heart? They'll probably think you're crazy or that you need therapy or something or whatever. I'd rather keep my love for him between him, me, and those who understand what I mean.
can really start a great conversation with his fans and is so romantic with me, but right now he hasn't been around for a few weeks and I'm really starting to miss him. I feel like a woman who's lover has gone away for a long time and doesn't know when he's coming back. He must be out on something important.
