Can I use this picture as an art reference for my own story as long as I give you credit.

Backgrounds are a chore. I don't blame you one bit.

It almost seems like it'd be more work to find an appropriate still in the movie to screencap, drag into PS, and edit it. I mean with a small doodle like this it'd take no time at all to just make a gradient in the back and slap a texture on it, if that. I dunno, I know how with "doodles" (for want of a better word) you eventually stop caring even though you like it. Like, I get it, I'm that way all the time. I guess I'm just saying that there's better ways to cut corners?
(Also, like, nothing wrong with cutting corners, if you do it right.)
Like, there's no rule saying you can't reuse your OWN backgrounds. If you had to do architecture/interior design/landscape studies anyway, why not turn them into polished backgrounds for your own use? That way you could focus more energy on drawing the parts you like.
Like, yeah, in a perfect world every artist would draw everything from scratch with 100% effort, but if you're a hobbyist that's just doing it for yourself then I'm not gonna judge. Taking the backgrounds from the movie rubs me the wrong way but I think this is easily remedied. Plus, adding your own BG colors means you can make them more complimentary to the characters.
Just my unsolicited advice.

I know it upset you about the way that artist just pasted a background off the movie but it doesn't really matter about the background it matters about the character; how much time she put just in the characters alone is incredible. She made a whole entire character all on her own and not to mention doing silver was hard enough. So what if she took a lazy day and just started doing little short cuts here and there most of her artwork was done by hand especially the background so don't judge an artist just because she did one little short cut.

I wouldn't say that you're too lazy not to add a background. I admire that you have the patience to draw Silver's robot arm :>

Trust me, no matter how many times I draw his robotic side, it's never easy. There are several times I need to look at a screencap or two for reference.

Whenever I draw silver (which is pretty rare) I always look at Glen Keane's original sketches. Either that, or I just fake it :>
