The Lich's Bane is an ancient concoction, the creation of which is attributed to a secret alliance of alchemists and clerics dedicated to combating the undead. It is said that during the "Era of Shadows," when liches and their minions rose to power, the coalition sought to create a weapon that could turn the tide against the undying. This potion, a virulent poison specifically tailored to the undead, became their weapon of choice.
Contained within a skull-shaped bottle of enchanted glass, the elixir glows with a ghostly green luminescence, hinting at the potent magic and deadly ingredients brewed within. The bottle is sealed with a cork inscribed with sacred runes to contain its power. The poison is so potent that it’s said to be lethal to the touch for any creature born of necromancy.
Upon the parchment beneath the bottle are scrawled the incantations and alchemical symbols required for its creation—a testament to the lengths the living went to protect their world from the grasp of the liches.
Properties:
Essence of Final Rest: When used against undead creatures, the Lich's Bane forces them to make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking 6d6 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
Aura of Hallowed Ground: Upon breaking the bottle, the potion releases a burst of energy that creates a temporary 10-foot radius of hallowed ground, where undead creatures have disadvantage on all attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks.
Silentium Mortis: Any undead creature that takes damage from the Lich's Bane is silenced for 1 minute, unable to cast spells or use abilities that require vocal components.
Curse: Whisper of the Grave:
Necrotic Resonance: The Lich's Bane is cursed with a necrotic resonance that affects the living. A living creature that comes into contact with the potion must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 necrotic damage and suffer disadvantage on Constitution saving throws for the next 24 hours.
Reaper's Scent: The potent magic within the Lich's Bane leaves a trace that attracts undead creatures. Anyone carrying the potion may find themselves hunted by undead, as the potion emits a scent discernible only to such creatures.
