This is an early birthday gift for Pearl. HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY PEARL! I could have waited, but I really can't wait to post something once it's complete. And normally it wouldn't be complete this early but tomorrow marks days one of NaNo and I had to get it done before that began! And so this is early.

Yay!

Anyways, this was the idea I had for DP-Checkmate's Season Three Tie In Contest (y'know, that one from way back in July? Yeah...). Even though I never really considered throwing this in the contest (can I compete as an admin anyway?) I did still want to do it and decided to change it to a birthday gift! I mean, fanart is fanart, right?

Yup, so here was my reasoning for this: In CM Danny struggles with his fear of his own power and it plays a huge role in him learning how to create blue energy. In S3 Danny once agains struggles with his powers as he comes to understand and control his ice powers. Not only are these scenarios similar but he receives practically the same advice from two very different people, Vladdy and Frostbite. I find it very interesting just how similar these two scenes are! It almost seems redundant but we know Danny, he doesn't always get something the first time around. Hmm...I bet he was strongly reminded of Vladdy when Frostbite talked to him about it...

I'm very glad I could make this, not only for Pearl and for the rest of the CM fandom and for the sake of just making more awesome fanart for an awesome fanfic, but 'cause it was great practice! I am really dang proud of this. Did some stuff I haven't done before, improved on some things I have, played with new textures and background effects...I still could have done a few more things. I really do need to try shading at some point...but I am pretty dang proud.

Oh my gosh!!!! I LOVE this! This has got to be one of your best works! I love how vivid and real it looks! Not to mention how you designed it so both scenes flow into one another! It's amazing!

The Danny and Vlad moment there makes me go 'awww!', but the so does FB and Danny! It's so sweet to see Danny have such great mentors! He sure is a lucky kid. Vlad, FB, and CW! Man! What awesomenss! All we need is CW and Danny and CW saying something like, you decide/control your future! haha! *smirks* I bet Vladdie would be jealous of FB and CW. He's got competition for his little badger!

Oh, but the symbolism is also to die for here! And both advices really are quite alike. I'm glad you noticed the whole blue energy thing, since I did do all that as a precursor to Danny learning his ice powers. As Vlad told him, if you learn blue energy everything else will be at your finger tips because blue energy represents Danny learning the fundamentals of his powers. it represents him gaining the basic level of control on them. So with ice powers, he has transition into another level and again, as FB says, it's all about control! But I like to think it was thanks to Vlad teaching him on that first level that he gain control of his ice powers so quickly AND in season three he just seems so much more comfortable with his powers in general! Ha! But that's my Vlad muse talking, of course!

Still, I love how you brought this thought together. An unspoken forshadowing which you made real! I Love it! It has made my day and it's an awesome b-day present! I would hug my computer if I could! Ha! Scratch that, I would hug you if I could! But since I can't, I'll let Vlad muse do it! *pushes Vlad muse into Diz's arms* Isn't he the sweetest! We LOVE you!

He really does have some good mentors. Heh, that would have been fun to enter Clockwork into the picture (except that then I'd actually have to draw him... |D; ) HAHA, yeah I could see Vladdycakes getting jealous! Which makes me wanna say, "well you could have still had a relationship with him, but noooo you can't forgive! (granted Danny did make a big mistake--but it was a mistake!)"

Ha, I knew you'd like the symbolism! Yeah, I agree. I think that someone had to help Danny with his powers before controlling/using his ice powers became a possibility. Vladdydad is the perfect mentor for that!

Yes! Oh hey I am doing a fanfiction too this year. It's Danny Phantom. I actually started it in August for Camp NaNo but after 50k I was only half way done so I'm being a rebelwrimo and continuing it for November!

Um, it's hard to explain. Let's see...it's based on a one-shot I wrote and the easiest way to get a feel for it is to read it. (If you want to read the one-shot, here's a link: [link] ) But here's a sorta summary/hook I wrote for the novel:

He was a halfa, feared and hated by those he protected. Allowed to stay only because he was needed. That was all he knew, all he remembered…and then she appeared. With the help of Sam and his slowly returning memories, Danny learns just how differently his life was supposed to be and just how drastically it was changed. And it was all because of him.

That will probably change but it works for now.

Ooh, great job!

At the bottom of the box where you type your reply/comment there is a small link called "Emoticons" Click on that and it gives you a whole slew of smilies and symbols to put into your comments.
I also know there are a ton of plz icons like :iconthankuplz : (without the space). That one looks like this:

Usually when I'm looking for an emoticon and I don't feel like looking it up in the list I'll just try putting words within colons 'cause sometimes that works, like if I want to wave I'd try :wave : (without the space) Like this
