" The distant sound of thunder rumbled throughout the land, Kuzimu was training little Zira all morning. Today wasn't a bad day, it wasn't hot, the sun was not out. It had begun to sprinkle a bit of rain. Zira was determined to reach far beyond her father's expectations and orders. Giving her all in her training. As Azola, her mother, watched from a distance, always helplessly gloomy and resentful at the very idea that Zira trained most of the day and part of the night. rarely getting chances to be with her mother, or with other cubs. Her innocence was passing her by. Then Azola raised her head as four more of the male members of their pride walked up to Kuzimu.
"Zira that's enough, catch you breath and sit in the shade of the tree" Kuzimu said assertively.
Zira let out a relieved sigh and she lumbered over to the tree and sat down. trying to hold in the urge to pant, as she wanted to seem unaffected by her training, to seem strong.

Azola looked on as Kuzimu's second in command Misuli (swahili for Muscle) reported 3 rogues have tresspassed into their territory, and have taken down a buffalo near the border in the night. And are now heading towards the pride's source of game and water. The head tracker Kuwinda (swahili for Hunt) started to talk to Kuzimu as well.

Azola's eyes brightened up some. Then Kuzimu looked over at her, and she sat up. Kuzimu then turned to Zira, who was looking up at all the other males of the pride, then she sat up straight like a soldier.
"Zira that's all for the day, go to your mother"
Zira's eyes brightened and her ears perked up. She stood up and made her way through the big male lions and started to head towards Azola, who stood up by now. She started slow, trying to seem professional, and without realizing it, her march turned into an excited canter. And a smile came across her face.
Azola looked on adoringly as Zira finally reached her on the rocks. And they turned to go spend the day together.

Kuzimu and the other males left to go hunt down the intruders, Azola wasn't even worried about that, surley they'd get more males and destroy the rogues . All she cared about was th fact that she had her daughter all to herself that day."

I'm actually very happy with this picture, it was kind of an experiment, I sketched it all out, then I did the BG before I did the characters, which I never do it that way, it was quite fun.
Really got my creative juices flowing, and I actually enjoyed drawing this!
i Haven't enjoyed drawing much of what I have been uploading lately, hopefully this is the start to the end of my artblock.

anywho.

I thought this was a cute idea, to show that every now and then Zira would get a break from her treacherous father, and spend some time with her mother.

oh and that really dark grey lion with the black mane may be the father of Kijani and Giza.

OH! and no Zira doesnt have the hole in her ear at this age, that comes later on in my story
