Well, there are some smaller daily adventures that are not out of reach. For example helping people who do not expect it, or do something unexpected in public places.

Those sorts of people are usually very friendly. I don't think they would hang out in public dressed like that if they didn't want to be approached, or at least I don't. I'm sure you could have asked to take some pictures so you could take the time to line up your shots and such.

Let me make a guess here - worth only a guess: He was a performer who was taking a break, and she was his girlfriend. So I am not sure he would have been willing to pose during his break, but I am sure he would have been friendly.

That makes a lot of sense. It's all about intuition an good judgement and you've proven to have enough of both in the past. Obviously I know the full context even less than you do, so I was just making some assumptions based on my own experiences wandering around in public in a suit of armor.
