This is my baby Tea-Leaf ^-^.Working on some animal illustrations for a funday i'm advertising at. Also going to be auctioning off a pet portrait as well
I'm enjoying working from blurry or bad quality photos and making a painting out of it - although trying to convince people that i havn't traced anything is harder than i thought it'd be.

In the photo preview in my messages it seriously looked like this was a photograph. I was major surprised to find out that you actually /painted/ it. I like how you took the time and effort to make a beautiful blurry photo into something as sharp and unique as this, because i know how trying to take photo's of cats is. they get cute, and then move and blur the whole thing. Β I never thought of just going in and fixing it like this.Β
I believe that your animal illustrations will be amazing! just make sure to share with us here! I'd love to see it when you're done!

You have no idea how many photos it took to get one of her like this!
I do love to hear that people appreciate these sorts of pieces, I get a few going, 'whats the point' purely because I'm working from a photo and making it look real. Some tend to believe its a wasted effort.Β
There are a couple more of these in my gallery, the most recent being a Border Terrier, its a new venture thats got me into drawing more animal based work actually!

i can tell you do your work by hand, and not use any kind of tracing.Β referencing, yes.Β tracing, no. two totally different things.
no kind of art is a wasted effort.Β some may believe that it is wasted because they dont like it, but that's their thoughts.Β you do not waste your time because you are not arting to please anyone but yourself.Β continue on. draw on.Β art always.

You have done really well with this whole piece. The shading and blending of colors on the cat's face really brings a sort of living depth to it. Overall, great piece

It was rather hard to get it so defined, a white cat is a lot harder to colour than I imagined.Β

Being a complete novice who can only draw flowers, I can't begin to imagine how difficult that had to be lol

start small and think big
i think its my same hate for colouring blonde hair. depth in light colours you have to work backwards. working with the darks and building up however your brains telling you "it needs to be brighter" straight away.Β

I know what you mean. My biggest hatred when it come to drawing is that for the life of me, I cannot draw the simplest of hair. Your work is just outstanding

oh thankyou ^-^ it does come with practise - any artist you talk to will also say this. When i hate drawing something or limit myself with it i just keep drawing it until i'm confident with it. still have a long way to go thoughΒ
