Description More info and registry: [link]

Finally! The Lumequus is now open to the public. For those wishing to use them in a stable the info is just below. For OCs in herds, scroll down. Restricted markings are not to be used unless you get permission. They are rare and I'd like to keep them that way.

Breed Name: Lumequus
Size: 15hh-17hh
Build: Warmblood/Andalusian
Best Trained in: Trick Riding, Jumping, Dressage, Cow Horse
Personality: Very intelligent. They need to be constantly entertained and that makes them a challange to ride at shows. However it makes them easy to train. They catch on to lessons quickly and usually remeber them. Like all horses, each will have its own personality but they tend to be more excitable and bond well to their owners.
Markings: They can have up to three colors. A Lumequus will never be 'white'. Slate grey is as light as they go in terms of grey and will always have some other color with it. Common facial markings are masks and stripes. Very rare(restricted) markings include Raven's Wings and Dragon's Tails anywhere on the body. They generaly have bright colors not seen in normal breeds. Manes and tails should have one or more strieks of black.
History: After unicorn were captured humans attempted to breed them. Not only were they strong and beautiful but in the middle ages they enjoyed watching as they forced stallions to fight one another and other creatures. They were housed alongside horses, their keepers not expecting them to take their lowly workhorses for mates. However when one of the mares gave birth to a brightly colored foal they found out otherwise. They also found a new opportunity. The resulting foals were gracefull and bight like their unicorn parent, but strong and trainable like their horse parent. One scholar called them Equus lumin or, 'light horse'. They were called so because of the changes they brought to the world around them. For those who could afford them, they were the pride and joy of the stable. They brought interest to gthe subject of hybrids and were found to be one of the few crosses able to reproduce. Today they are still a prized equine breed although their lines have been diluted with those of normal horses. For this reason it is suggested that they be bred to Lumequus horses or other brightly colored breeds.

Breed Name: Lumequus
Size: 15hh-17hh
Build: Warmblood/Andalusian
Personality: Very intelligent. Lumequus horses tend to be very thoughtful. Some are even called 'star horses' because of their tendancy to gaze at the stars.
History: When it became harder for unicorns to find mates, some began to take run-away horses as partners. At first the pairs were unsure if their progeny would survive with the bright colors of unicorns but no horn. They had to learn to be quick thinking and observant but managed to survive. As the first generation reproduced and more brightly colored foals were born they spread slowly across the land masses. Today they aren't as common as most other breeds but still live among themselves and other horses.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I'm going to be creating a registry when I have time, so if you are HARPG registered you can enter your horse(s) into the studbook. It will have something like the HSWA'a Finest Blood system if you are interested.

Fun idea! Do they have longer life spans than horses and are there sought after colors?

There lifespans may be lengthened by maybe five years at most(I heard the oldest horse ever was about 45 so the oldest possible age would be 50. But that is extremely rare). Mostly they are bred because of their color and ability to do well in almost all areas of work.

Very pretty! I would prefer if you only made one with a rare marking. Just pick whichever one is your favorite.
