Joseph here is the protagonist of the second part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, known as "Battle Tendency". If you've ever seen an anime/manga with a trickster hero who has a tendency for using absurd schemes to win fights against the odds, Joseph probably had a part in their inspiration. On a larger scale, JoJo helped to define a lot of the tropes you will see in shonen series today, and it's a series that has definitely impacted my own work quite a lot too.

That said, Joseph is probably my favourite of the JoJos; he's a very fun character and he's got more than a few tricks up his sleeve to keep the twists coming. It might not be obvious, but this picture actually contains about 5 or 6 different objects he's used to change the flow of a fight.

If you'd like to see more of the big guy, you can either read the manga, or you could watch the JoJo anime that's airing at the moment - having covered part 1, it's working its way through part 2 right now and should wrap it up next week. Part 2's not very long, but it's a great ride and I thoroughly recommend it. The anime is a particularly good adaptation, even keeping true to the fabulous style JoJo became famous for. If you start at the beginning it can be a bit slow, but stick with it - things ramp up rapidly in just a couple of episodes.
