Been putting off an appropriate painting of Marth for ages. I've painted him a few times before, but each of those efforts were done so poorly. Even as I got around to painting in my current style based off of and referencing early century classical paintings, I put Marth off. I actually got complaints or queries why no Marth was part of my collection, after painting Ike, Roy, Chrom and Lucina. Finally Marth is off my obligatory to-do list of subjects. Because of his more renowned fame as being the face of Fire Emblem, his solo portrait was painted on an 18"x24" canvas, rather than 16"x20" canvas like the others.ΒA 16"x20" canvas print is available at my Etsy shop!

There certainly is a lot of detail put into this one.Β Seems to be even more background detail as far as walls and texture goes than is usually present for these kinds of paintings, which is a real cool thing to note as far as showing improvement in bringing more background elements into play.Β There's a lot more depth factor laid in here too, adding all the more dimension to your composition.Β You make clothing folds appear so natural, not a single crease seems out of place.Β It's kind of neat to seeΒ that your version of Marth portrays him with a trace more masculinity in the facial area yet still stays true to the character.Β Probably my favorite FE-themed piece you've done yet.

Thanks. The background was probably one of the most time consuming projects I had to put up with for a while. I don't think it did the original Sargent any justice, but I'm pleased with my personal efforts this time around. And now that you did mention it, this is probably my first piece with a background that adds a depth. Like you said, of all my FE pieces, I think this is my favorite too. I actually have it mounted in a gilded frame and have it hanging in the family living room.Β
