The Corner Coffee Shop

Careening your way past any possible last stop, you notice a corner coffee shop, you slow down, double park and go inside. You head in past the counter seats deep into the room where a small black & white tv is flickering shadowy stills in a darkened booth. You sit down and pick up the remote and push the ON button & take a sip of the coffee the waitress just brought. You look up and watch. A Japanese commercial begins, selling industrial abstraction, "a twist on cubism," with a young blonde haired Japanese girl holding up what she proclaims is a NEW fresh tasting Cola from Japan. She takes a slow sexy sip and smiles. She is shrouded from behind by a glowing image of a shriveling Coca Cola bottle losing its balance in a bubbling illuminated melt-down. The girl is beautiful, yet seems lifeless with her shimmering made up face and artificial breasts. Her skin glows plastic. Only 200 calories and tastes like the well of enchantment. You look at your coffee and wonder. You click the remote and another commercial begins.
