Name
He's so used to being other cats that he eventually forgot his own name; however, the cats that know about his legacy have a tendency to call him "Backstabber", considering how many times he has been asked to betray the enemy while being in the role of an enemy. Eventually, he started hearing it from his victims, and the name stuck.

As his disguise of choice is almost always a merchant, Backstabber often suits himself to brown, weather-worn cloaks with hoods and trinkets that a merchant would carry. He has a cross-section of belts on one hip, to which three sphere-shaped bottles are secured with twine: the liquids within often appear to be medicinal, but they were highly lethal poisons. He also always has bandages where he is missing his front left paw.

Backstory
Backstabber was born into a family of poor peasants in the wilderness, and was raised to do nothing but survive. As such, the tom quickly taught himself how to steal to support his family, and after three or four mistakes, he had the art down to a T. His small frame and narrow body made it easy to slip into small openings, and he learned to step quietly, so that he could be walking inches from a guard without being noticed whatsoever.

One night, he and a few of his acquaintances made a trip to the palace to try to steal a very illustrious amount of gold coins. The prize was nearly secured when the guard was foolishly alerted; Backstabber had turned to run, when one of his friends pushed over a pedestal along the hall to strengthen their chances of escape: the team successfully got out, but the pedestal fell on top of Backstabber, pinning him to the floor and completely splintering his front leg in the shattered glass and rock. He was captured by the guard and sent to prison, his leg amputated.

About a week after his imprisonment, the guards finally decided to volley for the young tom's execution for his crime against the Overseer, and it was confirmed that the following morning, he would be killed in front of the city as an example. However, seeing his wound and his spirit to live, the current Overseer decided to take pity on the tom, and had him set free. Grateful for the Overseer's risky decision, from that moment on Backstabber pledged his undying alliance to the palace, soon becoming the city's Silarian. For this he still lives alone, prepared to die for his Overseer, earning his name and his reputation as a cold-blooded cat of justice and murder.

Despite his name, he has a fiery loyalty to the Overseer, and will do anything to follow his orders. He would rather kill himself than go back to the Overseer after failing a mission, and it could be noted that by some villagers, Backstabber's loyalty is so ferocious that the tom is romantically obsessed with the Overseer (however untrue this is). However, this loyalty is often saved only for the Overseer specifically; if asked to do something for anyone other than Cyrus, Backstabber would scoff and walk away.
His back up job of choice is a merchant. Although he never forgets about his real job, over the years he has learned a lot about sales and buying, so he can very properly function as a merchant if needed.
Although he is often frightening and antisocial, Backstabber is good in social situations. He doesn't mind children, he knows how to easily handle a social crisis, and he actually has a pretty good sense of humour, however grim it might be.
Not only does his cloak always accompany him (the only time his hood is down is when he and the Overseer are completely alone), but it's come to stand for the secrecy of his job and the sacredness of his silence. The key to the lock that fastens it about his neck is in one of the bottles of poison at his side: the only way he could get to it would be to break it open, and by the time he got it unlocked he would die from the poison being absorbed into his paw pads. Thus, no one has ever seen his true face.

Backstabber limped in his uneven gait towards the palace's entrance, hood casting a shadow over his yellow eyes, blood coursing from an assortment of open wounds and dripping down his fur and legs into watery splatters on the stones. His body ached and stung with pain that made his head pound...he wanted to simply sit and rest, but he made himself stalk on, bottles clinking at his side. Backstabber would simply go tell the Overseer of his information...then he would think of himself.
