The Rory Williams of the Classic Series. A wonderful companion.

He is a wonderful companion, but as I said, a billion times better than that sap Rory.

But still, Rory is much a better man than Danny Pink and Adam Mitchell.

I recently saw "The Ark in Space" for the first time...watching bits and pieces of classic Who. I was able to ascertain that Harry says "swell" a lot. And he has the hots for Sarah Jane lol.

Yeah - there's a big question about whether or not Harry's dead in the Doctor Who universe, actually...

Why? Just because of his age? Did something happen to him in canon? :/

In the Sarah Jane Adventures, Sarah refers to him a couple of times, but I think the second time round she sort of hints at the fact he died. It's never made explicit, so as such people often debate whether he's dead in the Whoniverse or not.

I much have missed those hints. Are those the bits when she says things like "Oh, I loved Harry", past tense? Huh.

Ah, something like that, yeah. In Death of the Doctor Sarah talks about him in the past tense and seems sad, so it's assumed that he died.

There's lots going on in here, really, and this knee jerk reaction that everyone is having is ridiculous. When it comes to Doctor Who and trying to keep secrets, the actors and production team lie through their teeth to try to keep it a secret (Rose is not leaving at the end of series 2; the Master will never appear in the new series; Jack will be back in series 2; Rose is not appearing in series 4; the Daleks won't be in series 2; the list is endless...). Equally, after seeing the interview on Alan Carr, I kind of got the impression Piper didn't want to go back. And Moffat has said he's still writing the 50th Anniversary special. There's so many, many reasons that we know absolutely nothing about what's going to happen with the fiftieth anniversary, that people are going to have fits if they get upset about every perceived wrong that is going to happen.
I think the only thing we can guarantee is that Christopher Eccleston won't return (though having said that, even he seemed a bit coy the last time he was asked that question, so I guess we can't even guarantee that...)

i think you've got more chance of McGann than Eccleston. Eccleston often says things like "I don't swim in the same lake twice" or "I'm not doing the 50th Anniversary". Seriously, though, the fact is Eccleston seems to have intensely disliked his time on Doctor Who, and doesn't ever seem keen to go back to it. The "I'd have to shoot you" comment is the single comment he's ever made that hasn't been an outright no. I get the feeling he doesn't really want to go back to it, basically, and I'm thinking a miracle might be the only thing that gets him back.

A lot of people get the feeling that Billie isn't coming back, either, but I think for either of them not to come back would be a disservice to the success that new Who has become. When Billie and Chris started, for all they new, it could have flopped. :/

Yeah I don't think Billie will be back either. You've got to remember, though, that ultimately they don't owe Doctor Who anything (well, you could argue it made Billie the success she is, but...). They were actors doing a job, and as you said it could have flopped. Arguably, if anything, Doctor Who owes Eccleston and Billie. I desperately want them to come back, but as an occasional actor myself, I understand why they shouldn't feel any obligation to return. They did a job and got paid for it. Job over. You wouldn't ask a friend to go back to a job they didn't particularly like, and certainly that would seem to be the case with Eccleston. As for Billie...well, she may have moved on.
It's sad, but it is their choice.

Look, I'm with you all the way, and frankly, I don't think it would cause them that much pain to do the anniversary special if only to be nice to the fans (well, I say if only - no one's asking them to do it for free). But as much as I want it, I suppose I can't criticise them if they choose not to.
But then, I was hoping they might get Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig together for a photoshoot to celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond last year, but good old Connery ruled that one out...
