Description X-Men: First Class was brilliant when it came to the X-Men, but when it came to the Hellfire Club, it didn't really click with me. One of the main problems was the casting of Kevin Bacon and January Jones, who really didn't do the parts well (in my opinion)...Now I admit I'm a huge Hellfire Club fan so I'm probably biased, but I just wished they were more of a huge organisation rather than a Brotherhood of Evil Mutants clone...c'est la vie...

Kevin did a fantastic job! I love him as a villain! So smug and slimey! The flashback scene with him and young Eric was so creepy!!!

I thought Kevin was a great villain - just a bad Sebastian Shaw. And I'm not really attacking Kevin for that - more the direction and writing. And the flashback scenes were very disturbing

But as I said, it may have more to do with my love of the comic Hellfire Club that I just can't let it go

Thanks very much (And for the fave )...Yeah the clothes turned out well...I was trying to decide whether to do the white cloak or the underwear, but I decided on the cloak version

You are right... When I saw the movie, I was like "wait, the hellfire club? They are just four people?! what the ... Shouldn't it be more of them?", but then I went with it... xD

I'm probably too wrapped up in the comics to be able to let go of the fact the Hellfire Club was just Magneto wannabes I know...I should have dealt with it

Wondercookies In reply to DoctorRy [2011-09-07 11:29:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but now that you say it, I recognize that it makes the Hellfire Club look like Magneto's brotherhood... But the Hellfire Club is supposed to be big... Isn't that organised like a chess game? (I don't remember, I don't have a lot of comics, but some friends used to lend me some, but it was time ago...)

DoctorRy In reply to Wondercookies [2011-09-07 14:56:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Sebastian Shaw was the Black King, Emma Frost the White Queen, and there were other chess ranks as well. I wanted to see this whole sinister organisation, with Emma Frost having as much authority as Sebastian Shaw (unlike the movie where, basically, she was just one of his Brotherhood; essentially Mystique to Magneto). And it's such a shame, cause I thought the whole Magento/Xavier part of the movie was absolutely brilliant! (And perfectly cast...)

But, like I said, maybe it's cause I'm a fan of the comic Hellfire Club

Mhhh, I think the movie should have stick more to the comics when it comes to the Hellfire club, it would have surely make it more interesting... But maybe it would have been too complex to make the movie if the young x-men team have had to defeat a big organisation...

That's why I was thinking the Hellfire Club would have been a great villain for a trilogy of X-Men: First Class films...you could have had them going up against Emma Frost in the first film (and her Hellions), Selene in the second film, and then finally Sebastian Shaw and the entire Club in the third. Uncovering a mass conspiracy...would have been awesome

Yeah, great idea, would have been awesome They should have ask you to do the scenario!

Oh I know exactly how it would have panned out...though I would change it slightly...the first movie would have the X-Men being formed to go up against Selene (the Black Queen). The second would bring in the White Queen (Emma Frost), and would use her own mutant team (the Hellions), and then the third would be Sebastian Shaw and the Sentinels!

Yeah...it's coming together in my head now

And add Wolverine a bit (just like an external random help, from him being at the wrong place at the wrong moment ^^)

I think it would cool to have Wolverine as a cameo...

Actually, you know what is really sad about Marvel not having the rights to make X-Men movies? It would have been hands down awesome to do what they do in the comics and have Wolverine work with Captain America in World War II So wish that had happened.

Wondercookies In reply to DoctorRy [2011-09-11 16:16:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed that Wolverine wasn't in the Captain America's movie =s I wished too that had happened when I saw the movie (but the movie is still great...)

DoctorRy In reply to Wondercookies [2011-09-12 01:01:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah...sadly while the rights remain with Fox, there's no chance we'll see the X-Men and Wolverine interact with the rest of the Marvel universe, which is such a shame...A Captain America/Wolverine movie set in WW2 could have some real potential!

I agree... (didn't notice that Fox owned the x-men movies right >.<)

Yup...huge tragedy that the Marvel characters are split up between different movie companies....Fox has X-Men, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four; Sony has Spider-Man and Marvel have the Avengers, Punisher and Blade.

We just have to wait until the other companies stop making movies, then Marvel get the rights back (like with Blade - was with Dimension, but they took forever to make Blade 4, so Marvel have it now).

Yeah, well, Marvel needed the money so they were selling property off left, right and centre...ah well

You know which comic I love the most? Cloak & Dagger...I want Marvel to make a movie about them!

Wondercookies In reply to DoctorRy [2011-09-15 11:04:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh... It didn't sound like a good idea =s

Never read Cloak and Dagger, is it this good? (I think I saw them a bit when I read the Runaways that a friend lend me... But I'm not sure)

DoctorRy In reply to Wondercookies [2011-09-15 15:18:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, not a great idea, but I think the best they could do at the time.

I think Cloak & Dagger is great And yes, they did turn up in Runaways (which is also a brilliant series!)

Er, I'm not sure, but, isn't there a tv series about Cloak and Dagger? (not sure at all, maybe I'm mixing things up)

No, no Cloak & Dagger television series. Shame, cause I would watch that!
