Description EDIT (3/5/09): I have uploaded a new version of this. The old version was mostly crisper, but the right side was cut off. The other side of the page also showed through on the old one. Not so much with the new one. I added the phrase "follows the same 'logic' as in-game guns" at the top. Also, (and this is the biggest change,) I added diagrams of what the monochrome LCD screen displays based on which weapon mode is engaged. You can switch between the three modes (Power Beam, Missile, and Sub-weapons) by pressing three little buttons where your left hand holds the gun (if you are right-handed).
The screen shows ammo (if applicable) and the current power level. (That might mean how much energy the gun has left.) Lastly, I chose not to alert my watchers of this (non-minor) change.

Old Comments (10/13/07):
As my first submitted deviation (but not my first official drawing), I have scanned a page in my science journal. This diagram details the ideas I have for a "realistic" gun that would be compatible with the Nintendo DS game Metroid Prime Hunters. Notice it has all six sub-weapons, missile capabilities, and a power beam generator. This gun feels like and weighs as much as a Q-Zar gun, if you've ever held one of those things. Lastly, there is a small LCD screen (backlit) for the user to view current ammo and power levels.

The box on the side says this:
"NOTES ON TRIGGERS:
The trigger closest to the user activates the current weapon normally. The further trigger starts charging the weapon, if so equipped. The Battlehammer, Imperialist, and Shock Coil do not have charge capabilites."

And the three things on the key say this:
dotted-line box = Power Beam Generator
Black rectangle = Sub-Weapon disk (2D view)
Brown arrow-shaped thing = Missile Launcher
