Description Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I spoke of this project...do you remember Molly's Devils (www.deviantart.com/dokidokitsu… ), that comedy series concept that I had such a hard time with before...? Well, I've actually been working on it in the background all this time, and it's slowly been getting better and better. Now it's solidly #1 on my list of comics to take the place of DotPQ when I finally finish it...or maybe even beforehand. It's in the works~

As you can see, the art style changed a lot...but really, I didn't post this just to show you that; I posted it because it's the first thing I've drawn in 2 days. I needed a break from game design. ^^' And these guys have been on my mind a lot recently, so I decided to draw them.

One thing that I've spent a lot of time on while polishing this project is the worldbuilding...I don't know how well I explained it before (probably not well at all) but there are two supernatural forces at work in the story: angels and demons. Both try to influence humans so that their souls will belong to either heaven or hell after they die.
'So the demons are the badguys and the angels are the goodguys, right?' Well, actually, it's a little more complicated than that...common practice for angels is to encourage humans to hunt demons, to 'eradicate evil' (and help their side win). And some of them are honestly more interested in slaughtering demons than in saving souls, so...both sides can get pretty dark occasionally.

What I found interesting about these two characters, and why I decided to draw them together, was that they each represent the worst of their respective sides. Valentinius is a thousand-year old demon who has practically built a philosophy around encouraging humans to make each other miserable and ultimately destroy themselves...and Volterra is an angel who really just sees humans as disposable pawns, whose sole purpose is to help him devise new ways to kill demons.

Both are relatively minor characters (MD is still a comedy series, after all) and Val isn't even really an antagonist, but I love the hints of deep evil they bring into the story. ^^ Plus, their designs were a lot of fun to do.

I hope to share some more about this concept's revival soon~
